Hello! Was planning on installing this awesome game and download the offline-installer when I noticed the version name: 4.04a_REDkit_Update_2.
I know that REDkit can be downloaded separately to create mod's for the game.

Is this some GOG-exclusive community modded version or the same version as on Steam?

The GOG version is not modded. The game simply got an update (well, two) at the same time as the REDkit was released, hence the name.

According to this post at Nexus Mods, the changes are so small that even mods made for version 4.04 are compatible with 4.04a_REDkit_Update_2.
