So basically with every other resolution than 1920*1080 I get black bars. Anybody have the same issue? Or know the reason?
Thought it was supposed to be with 16:10 only...
I have a 1080p 22" monitor.

I also have a 22'' display and my native resolution is 1680x1050. There is the option to upscale the resolution to 1920x1080 though. I've never tried it but maybe using a 16:9 resolution on a 16:10 monitor does not work properly. Just a hunch...
I haven't heard of LCDs having an upscale ability like the one you mention, as they're limited by the amount of physical pixels they actually have (the exact number as the native res).

It's the HP w2207h. It's maximum resolution is 1920x1080 (16:9), yet it is clearly a 16:10 monitor and its native resolution is 1680x1050 (16:10). It's the resolution the monitor displays when I reinstall the graphic driver for instance, also the resolution that is automatically picked by most games and so on.
Weird monitor is weird.

16:9 refers to the display resolution, that is, not the actual display size.

Here are the 16:9 resolutions, from lowest to highest.

640x360 (not supported by the game)
960x540 (not supported by the game)
1024x576 (not supported by the game)
1280x720
1600x900
1920x1080
2048x1152
2560x1440 (and I think this one isn't supported by the game, either, as I've seen complaints)
7680x4320 (not supported by the game)

Any other resolutions -> black bars.

Damn it. I totally misunderstood / misread the start post. Now I see what he meant. Of course only real 16:9 resolutions don't have the black bars. :D

I think the topic starter does not understand what it means. It's the ratio of the horizontal resolution in pixels to the vertical resolution in pixels. 16 pixels horizontally equals 9 pixels vertically. The resolution must have the same ratio.

One can easily find out what kind of resolution (4:3, 5:4, 16:9 or 16:10) it is. Simply divide the first number by the second one and do the same for the resolution. 16 / 9 = 1,777[...]8. 1920 / 1080 = 1,777[...]8. But for instance 1680 / 1050 = 1,6, same as 16 / 10. ^^

It's something so common that I had to take a step back to understand what he was asking, as well.
Well I clearly know what I'm asking, the problem is I get black bars with ANY other resolution
but 1920x1080. Including 1280x720 and 1600x900.
Maybe it's because how your display handles upscaling, or maybe it's the game.

If it's the former, and you have an nVidia card, you can change display scaling between monitor and GPU, in the nVidia control panel.

If it's the latter, tough luck. Make some lemonade, I guess.
Thanks anticitizen101.
I changed the scaling settings, did the trick.
Also had lemonade.
I apologise if this is 'necro' but I just wanted to say thanks to blackgu4rd for the post above about scaling. I bumped into this issue in 2017 on an Nvidia card and scaling was the issue. I resolved it via the Nvidia Control Panel: Display Settings: Adjust Desktop Size and Position: Perform Scaling on GPU (changed from Display). Thank you!! I would never have been able to run the game without this thread.
