i use the area outside the tavern in flotsam as my benchmark/test area for fps.

no matter what my settings (everything off/low or everything on etc) i cant get more than 21fps whilst running around that little market square type area outside the tavern.

win 7 home premium 64bit
4gb ddr2
c2d e6600 2.6ghz
zotac gtx 550 ti amp - 275.27 beta forceware - no 3d drivers installed
fraps used to check fps.
no background apps like AV etc.
resolution 1920x1080
hdmi connection used. stereo sound.

very disappointing and killing my enjoyment.

Hi there,

Have you tried rolling back to older drivers ?

I currently have a lower configuration than you and can still get nearly 30-40 FPS with ULTRA on 1440*900 AND I'm using the current stable drivers.

Without the 3D driver of course...
forgot to add that i run @ 1920x1080 - cant lower because anything less than native on my tv/monitor looks like ass.

dont see how you can have ubersampling on @ ultra settings and still get those framerates.
what gfx card have you got?
CPU seems to be the bottleneck.

yes but surely i would see an increase in framerate at the low profile spec?

but it remains the same constantly. no matter what settings and i hardly think a cpu can hold it back that much it should at least rise if i turn everything off.
CPU isn't the problem. I have Q6600 @ 3.0GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, Nvidia GTX470. I run at 1920x1080 max settings no uber no problem.

Roll back to 266.58 drivers and see if that helps. A lot of people on other forums get more FPS using those vs newer drivers.

also If your CPU doesn't run too hot try pushing another 200 Mhz.

The GTX 550 isn't a hardcore gaming video card...but if it's the same no matter what settings you use then it must be the drivers. Perform a clean reinstall of them to erase any previous driver settings and try it out.

cant roll back to 266.58 because the 550 ti wasnt released then and so its not supported in those drivers.

ill perform a clean install on the next release up from 266 and see if it makes any difference. then ill work my way up the drivers selecting the clean install and no 3d options each time.

ill report back if and when nothing or something happens.

E6600 != Q6600
