cooper: Can I be petty for just a moment, please?

I would really like a mod that makes the drunks in the encampment (Act 2) stop yelling that word they howl when I have already failed the quest. It would make me so happy to have that not happen anymore. As it is, they keep yelling and I keep mentally flipping them off. Ok, back to mature adult mode. :D

Jamanticus: What? You mean that you don't positively adore coming back to a chorus of

[spoiler?]

"Oodriiiinn, Ooooooodriiin! Heeeeere, booooyyyyy!" every second you are in camp? It doesn't fill you with courage and a sense of well-being? You must have some serious issues if you can't stand several hours of that nonstop :P

(I only bring this up again because I had a nightmare about Odrin when I slept that night of hellish calling. Vernon Roche should add that hideous cry to his interrogation methods list. Bet it would have his prisoners spilling the beans right fast)
Damn when I first heard it I thought they were calling for a dog. After hearing it for 10 minutes or so I wished I could challenge them to a fist-fight to shut them up.

if you challenge him to a fist fight you have to listen to listen to one guy scream the same thing about getting you when you let your guard down

cooper: yes just exactly this :D
Even if you fail the quest, you can still go "save" Odrin to shut them up. While you're at it, you should gather all the drunks up together by carrying Odrin to each one, and bask in their glorious chorus. :p

cloud8521: i posted this somewhere else and i liked how it came out so im going to slip it here, this pertains to a revamp of the blocking

OPTION 1: Active blocking. this meant holding but button does you 0 good. when a attack come sin you must press the block button at that time to activate a block. this is still difficult but gives you more control. this also makes countering a much harder aspect. but it may be a little much for some players but once you get the timing down you will feel more powerful with it. the drawback is that it may be hard to make upgrade for. laxing the ammount of time you have to press the button may be an option. but ultimatly it may need some thinking into

OPTION 2: give it a new Defence bar. an analog bar that drains, not by hit but rather by amount of damage coming in. when the bar drains fully you become stunned and defenceless. upgrades can remain the same, and the one that makes it more efficient can make it instead take less from each attack.
Excellent! You must be awarded for your perseverance. There are more threads in more forums for you to whine and complain in! Quickly, time is a wasting. Get to it my brother! Lead the crusade of whiny PC Gamers! They require your continued leadership and leading the charge!

oh yes GREAT rational, you totally made me think, your point of view makes my opinions null and void oh man you really are great. at trolling that is. you ruined my opinion that people can be nice and look at what others say objectively. and you made me think that i should ignore you for the rest of your life.

I'm sorry your grace. Your point of view are not just whining and complaining in as many threads as possible. Everything that made you disgruntled is something of grave importance to be fixed. The game developers are morons, and you are their savior. Lead the way! The star is shining in the sky brightly, they will bow to you and be amazed at your criticisms.

dragonturtle: After playing awhile and getting the hang of the combat mechanics, I have one major gameplay annoyance:

I hate that my 600 HP witcher can get killed by a family of nekkers because I get stuck between a couple of barrels or get surrounded. When this happens, signs get interrupted and parry doesn't last forever, so it means guaranteed death. Given the imprecise auto-targeting system, it is too easy to unintentionally throw myself into a crowd or get stuck on terrain while attacking or rolling. It's a cheap death caused by flawed combat mechanics.

IMO the easiest solution is to have enemy AI occasionally pause attack if they detect other enemies attacking the same flank. Make the frequency of pausing a function of the number of enemies and game difficulty. This gives the witcher a chance to fight out of mobs or corners.

hulahula32: No, just no. It's your fault if you are dodging into barrels and cornering yourself. Don't be stupid and dodge into corners. If you die because you're dumb, then Geralt should die. That's the point of the combat.
It is not my fault the game has imprecise targeting. I did not choose to dodge into a barrel and corner myself.

You need to stop berating other people because you have a different opinion of the game. I see you doing this in many posts. I have my opinion and you can have yours, but you need to post with more maturity. Calling someone you don't know "stupid" and "dumb" is poor forum etiquette.
well, theres something weird with the weather. It will be raining, but then if you go though a gate to the wilderness the rain will suddenly stop and it will be sunny.

that is just odd and should be fixed.

also while on the topic of zones and such. i noted that i have been hitting loading screens in this seamless environment too much. i will be walking though a field then suddenly, the game will stop and start loading for second then drop me right back where i was. there are times when it will load seamlessly but other times not.
I wish, oh I wish...

Do something to fix targeting. a flag to turn off auto switching, replace it with target cycling key, something...it's bad, I'll be running to get in range to lock on something will get close and I'll get bounced to another target even if its further away than the last.

Please add in a camera lock or even go as far as making it so it behaves similar to a first person viewpoint. I have a hard time believing I'm Geralt, it feels more like I'm a puppeteer working a marionette. It's a personal preference, but an option that IMO might make combat "feel" more inclusive, rather than observed.

I've emailed a few bugs and suggestions, and I'll probably submit more, as I've seldom seen threads like this actually produce results but its always nice to be able to think someone will actually agree with you.

Seen this as well, the weather thing is pretty odd. In addition to suddenly walking into a rainstorm, I've seen the sky color show noticeable changes between one side of a door and the other.

As to the loading and if someone wants to correct me if I'm wrong, but changing the Texture Memory Size in the Advanced Options might help with this. When it stops to load, I think its just trying to load too much at once and dump stuff it doesn't think will be needed in the immediate future. A warning from the readme.txt, dedicating too much memory to the in-game textures "can also cause the graphics card to run out of memory and even result in game crashes."

A great option here would be binding attack direction to camera direction, thus making gameplay a lot more like Witcher 1's OTS camera mode.

Adding to the topic, the Patch 1.1 is great and all, but one criticism I have for it is the key binding. I hope it's expanded in Patch 1.2. I'm glad the arrow keys and number pad can be mapped now, but personally, the ones I'm after are being able to map PL:" to movement, being able to assign stuff to the punctuation keys, and being able to change Character, Map, Journal, and Inventory.

NumPad key re-mapping.
Before the patch I was able to scroll down the menu with the right stick and use the left stick to make selections in the menu. I also used the left stick to make selections during combat (while bringing up the combat menu wheel). This level of control made for a much smoother gameplay, especially using the gamepad. Now I can only make selections with the D-pad and scroll with the mouse wheel.

All in all its not much of a big deal, but there is a loss of fluidity and seamless control that the devs might want to look into. :-)

More of the same here.
