Don't worry, I'm at about 40 hours with no key yet, they did say up to 72 hours so we have to be prepared to possibly wait about 3 days for the key.
They have rejected my request. I have entered my Steam email and my Steam nick correctly but they send me this:

Dear The Witcher 2 fan,

Unfortunately, we had to reject your request for a replacement Activation Code needed to redeem your free backup copy of The Witcher 2 from GOG.com.
We recommend checking if you followed the instructions provided on http://thewitcher.com/backup/ exactly and completely.
These are some of the reasons why we reject requests for replacement codes:

Confirmation emails/proofs of purchase:
1. It's impossible to say what is written on the confirmation email - the photo/scan is too blurry.
2. You covered the name of the product you purchased on the confirmation email, and we cannot see if it is The Witcher 2.
3. There is no signature and/or email and/or unique code written by hand in the picture.

Steam Profiles:
1. We cannot find your profile neither by the email nor by the Profile Name. Most likely your profile is not public.
2. The email you gave us apparently is not the one associated with your Steam account.

Game boxes/dvds photos:
1. You sent a photo with the first Witcher game box. We do not grant The Witcher 2 backups to the owners of copies of The Witcher unfortunately.
2. Only a part of the cover art of the DVD case is visible in the picture, something which could be easily found on the internet and printed out.
3. There is no signature and/or email and/or unique code written by hand in the picture.
4. You sent us a picture of your Activation Code - if you have it then please use it on gog.com/witcherbackup . If you cannot use it for some reason then reply to this email and explain the situation.
5. There are koalas, penguins or even you in Las Vegas in the picture but no trace of The witcher 2 game box.

If you think you can correct your request then please reply to this email.

Best regards,
The Witcher 2 Tech Support Team

Well, you got a reply, which is at least a start, but I guess, if you feel you entered all your details correctly, try going to https://steamcommunity.com/ and see if you can look up your user profile with your Steam name you gave them, if you can find it with the name you gave them, just try sending them a reply and seeing if you can ask what exactly they had a problem with and try clearing things up.
I have sent them screenshot with all information on one place and i hope that that is a enough evidence for them :D
After around 43-44 hours, my request was accepted, so method F worked for me, I hope it works for others.
Good news guys. After 40 hours or so from initiating method F I got an email with my key stating that they were able to verify my Steam account.

In short, method F does work if you give it enough time. Just make sure that you go through the steps to make it so they can find your profile. (I verified this by logging out of Steam and searching my profile name under the community tab on the Steam website.)

If your profile doesn't show up, make sure that you are searching the right name and make sure that you have your profile set to public view.

Good luck!
Over 48 hours now and still no reply other than the initial confirmation email.
Just got my key using method F after 48 hours.
just got my key as well =) greaat service !!!! its time to start downloading !!! =)
Finally got my key a couple of hours ago. It took longer to install the game than it did to download it!
After sending them proof that i have Witcher 2 on my account they have sent me code :D Tnx GOG and CD Project :D
F) for worked for me, took roughly one day

pretty sweet, i'd say ;)

i did it for witcher1

Having problem redeeming The Witcher Enhanced Edition from my gamelist?
I just got myself verified, they checked my steam account and today I received the key to redeem my backup copy of Witcher 2, just remember to follow the steps from their instruction. You need your steam profile to be public!

While im here, I would like to say that Gog/CDprojekt really represents unmatched level of customer support/relations quality.
Its nice to know that they respect their customers in stead of suspecting them or treating them like enemies.
This is especially nice after the disappointment blizzard has delivered and their way of treating people.

Great job, I will be sure to buy more games from GOG in the future!
