I hope you are right ThulsaDooom i do :) , but really i feel lost , and the combat is not hard is crazy , i went to the Hospital quest with those ghosts that kills me in 2 hits, and if i block one the other one would kill me the same :(

So i had to run put trap repeat , at the end i didn't even get exp for those kills , combat 1 on 1 is fine , when there is more than 1 enemy i have no idea what to do i just lay traps :(

I hope the game gets better at some point :)

cloud8521: combat could be slightly more intuitive without losing what is is now.
Read the manual! ;)

No, he brought up some good points and I tried to bring up some counter points. I've over the moon for this game so I am slightly biased. Probably best to talk to me in 6 months can give you a more sober critique.

@therpgstore...don't know about that quest, but as I said in another thread...don't be afraid to run away and return later after leveling up. This isn't Oblivion with scaling enemies, you will run into some brutes that will crush you from time to time. Look at uprgrading your equipment...do you have a entry for those specific ghosts in your journal? Best of luck!

the manual doe snot make things more intuitive.

im not talking about it leading you bu the hand but rather using its assets in a different way.

one example is allowing us to drink potions on the fly, but doing so opens us up to attack. its never smart to drink a potion in battle unless you have the use of a sign. but if you chug to many then you will be unable to drink as much

one way to make it intuitive but still be punishing for using that intuitive nature the wrong way.

I agree with most your points, I really miss the ALT key the medallion is not a worthy replacement IMHO, I would have prefer they used the medallion for "magical" or "hidden" stuff like place of power but kept the ALT key for visible stuff like peoples, container, and herbs.

Other things I miss (most of them have been mentioned in other threads)

- In-Game settings, I mean the game is supposed to be a PC centric/exclusive(for now at least) game and yet it looks a lot like a console port, you want to change keyboard mapping... you have to quit the game and change it from the launcher, same thing for the graphical settings, you can't change anything in game (except brightness)

- Speaking of settings the possibility to control voices/ambient sound volume separately, often the voices are barely audible.

- The possibility to do front/back flip. Often you get stuck in a group of enemy with no possibility of escaping and the sometime weird collision detection doesn't help.

- More responsive control, I am finishing Witcher 1 and something I immediately notice in W2 is that Geralt seems a lot less responsive to movement order, if you want him to react immediately you have to "roll" otherwise after sign or attack he will wait 1-2 second before registering the new move order. (Maybe it just takes time to get used to it)

- A more PCish interface, this is of course purely a question of personal tastes, but I find that the inventory/skills/etc screens are console-ish, made to be played on a TV at the other-side of the room with a gamepad, huge letter, lots of space wasted, not very natural with a mouse, it hurts me a lot to say it but it kind of reminds me of DA2 interface.

EDIT - And of course I forgot the possibility to overwrite/delete savegames.

DISCLAIMER : Of course I am not saying that the game is bad or anything, I played very little of it yet, I still have W1 to finish, but those are the things that I immediately noticed and that kind of disappointed me. Probably after playing more I will get used to most of them.

Buffs should really last like thirty minutes, they don't last nearly long enough

Hm... I had that feeling too since I've seen it on video. Another thing that bothers me a little is that Geralt doesn't walk backwards when you press S. He just turns around now.

therpgstore: -Potion drinking is annoying (wait meditate for to drink a potion) and they last too few
Hi,

If you read the books, I mean the real books: the saga of Geralt of Rivia by A. Sapkowski, you'll see that when Geralt drinks potions in preparation for the battle, he does so before the battle. He never drinks a potion in the middle of combat.

So, in that regard, the new potion drinking mechanic is more 'authentic' (or should I say 'realistic') than in the previous game.

good to know never read the books.

I haven't unlocked the alchemy talents, but it would be logical to have something extending the duration of potions in there.

You are right. They definately should last a bit longer.

But I think this is for playability or game design reasons, because in the books Geral doesn't go into combat every ten minutes. Also, he normally would only drink potions when preparing for tough encounters, against monsters for example, since the potions' side-effects or toxicity are much more important, certainly nastier, than what we see in the game.
