Anyone else here abit unsatisfied with the combat in this game?

Im not complaining here, but i dont find any enjoyment out of it, due t the fact the normal difficulty is way to hard especially at the early stage of the game, there were some parts where i was facing 15+ goblins in a cave.

The damage dealt to monsters is abit satisfactory (ending up slashing then rolling away alot)

I also feel the combat should be quicker and more brutal (dealing dmg to enemies) and it would be great if gerald could do front flips and back flips to evade like in witcher 1 not just a barrel roll:(

Anyone else agree of am i just nit picking here?
If you're getting beat down while exploring, return later after leveling up. Enemies don't scale in this game and the devs said that's sometimes it's wiser to run and return than try to take on enemies that are too powerful.
Well it is an RPG game and not an action game...

yes im leveling up and stuff, im getting better at combat, all i ment is that to combat up untill now has just caused me grief lol you really have to play cat and mouse with you targets, and when there are alot of targets, this can take along time lol

Also, try using signs other than Aard and Ignii! Great change from TW1 is that all signs are now important and very useful! Plus, experience with this game is a must in order to become an Master Witcher Player. Experimenting and mixing fast/strong attacks might result in some good combos, IMHO.
While I certainly miss the acrobatics from The Witcher, as far as combat difficulty and such goes in The Witcher 2, I am fairly satisfied. We've been given a lot of tools to use right from the start this time, and the game was developed in such a way that expects, and often demands, that we make use of them all. Witchers are more than just their swords, after all; without their signs and potions, they are merely men with a deathwish.

Granted, Geralt does feel a tad weak at the start of the game, as he shouldn't have any issues with the lesser varieties of monsters that creep around in Chapter 1, but as you progress and spend more points in your combat tree you'll quickly begin to feel as if your individual blows matter more.
i still think that this game would be even more great if you could have a acrobatic ability to take on monsters

flip over them while taking a slice at em, sweep their legs while doing a roll.

things like that would make this game even better to me, although i love the game how it is.
Rivo, the combat is whats going to kill this game!

Storywise...A+
Character wise A+
Adult Content A+

Combat F-

And its not that im dieing (as im sure some kid will say), its just not fun flipping all over the place, having your targets constantly changing on you, twitch twitch twitch!

I actually had to stop playing on the first day of running it I was so annoyed and unimpressed with the combat!

THAT where this game is going to fail!
Everything but combat is targetted to the 25-30-45+ year old crowd gamer and the combat is taregtted to 15 year olds with A.D.D.!

Combat is terrible.

That's good to know that enemies don't scale with your level; I was actually wondering about that. I personally don't like that in games, particularly RPGs and adventure games.
Combat in fine, I took me some hours to finally master it but it really rules.
At start it is frustrating to die a lot, but damn, is it good to have some challenge ! I was bored of the last RPGs where the first time you face something difficult it is on the end boss.

This game isn't just about killing it's about having a strategy while fighting, once you're surrounded you're dead and it's meant to be so I think.

Use signs, potions, traps wisely and then it looks like cake :)

The combat is good. Don't judge it too early in the game. It takes practice and getting used to. There's depth in the combat. Learning the combat system will take many hours of gameplay and that's how it needs to be.

people are too into it on melee combat alone. you also have magic and bombs, set up traps and bombs your foes drop like flies
I think the combat is OK. But it really is a bit too hard at first. I died multiple times in the first stages of the Prologue. You barely know how to play and there are up to 5 soldiers who try to kill you.
Well, I must have to say that Combat is not the enjoying part of the game. Typical combat sequence is :
- engage enemies
- roll/evade
- run
- use a sign
- repeat from step 1

Block is useless because key press seem buggy.

And it's worst if their is more than 3 buddy front of you :'(

The odd thing is that you can't drink a potion anywhere, because you need to entre Meditation mode. If you are in a room close to enemies, impossible to drink ... very strange ... I could understand that you can't drink potions during fight, but in a empty room, please ...

I don't say the game is hard, I "love" game that give me a challenge, I just say that Combat part could be improve ;)

your health will be regenerated slowly outside of combat. So can't drink potion in an empty room isn't big problem, unless you're just charging forward like raging bull.
