Soo a few hours ago i got to the part where you either help vernon roche or the scoi'tael...
I need some help here, i don't know which side to choice.

Personally, i like the blue stripes : they are hilarious (see "Party" quest) ) , Ves is a total babe and i heard you can do "something" with her. And Roche's outfit is bad-ass. Also they aren't rascists like the order in Witcher 1, and i can understand their motives as to why the scoi'tael are bandits who terrorize the commonfolk.

Now the thing is, i have started the witcher 2 with my savegame from witcher 1 where i sided with the elves, it's kinda my master savegame, with all best items and so on. I never did the order route, cause i knew they were evil bastards.

This time around the situation ain't that clear.... if i decide to go now with the blue stripes.. will this bite me in the ass because i sided with the elves in witcher 1 ? Or not....

I like the elves though and i don't want them to be opressed but goddammit them bitches shot triss and constantly attacked me in the woods, so i'm feeling a little grudge here :p

Comment away, tell me which route you think is best... without spoiling to much :p
Add spoiler tags if you do...
Why not play both? Choose one route for one saved game path and the other for another.
You could maybe just try picking what you think feels best for your own story experience, and not worry about min maxing the potential outcomes in terms of meaningful events. Just a crazy thought, I know.

For me, it came down to Zoltan. Zoltan is my bud, and he seems to have a preference. I didn't actually worry about how much tail the decision was going to get me...a mistake I frequently replicate in real life, come to think of it.

I've played both sides and they are both fantastic - i would suggest going with whatever you fall into on the first run and go with the flow. Then i HIGHLY suggest playing through it a second time the other way - the game progression is quite different and def worth it.
I chose Iorveth. Roche actively interfered with capturing/killing the Kingslayer. An absolutely intolerable act.

And then when the Kingslayer needed to be pursued and Triss rescued, he talked about doing other local business.

I didn't trust his priorities.
Only one option to that question: keep a saved game from before the decision (i copied it to a backup directory) and play both :)

Well i intend to.. think i'll go with the blue stripes first.

I just hope i don't have to go on raids with them and go slaughter some innocent elves, scoi'tael's a different matter. Think i have a soft spot for elven lasses :p

Why can't everyone get along :p :p

Come to think of it, this is exactly why the witcher 1&2 is that good, it actually makes you think about all your actions that you perform and how you act to people.

Think i'll continue playing now.

On a sidenote: does CD projekt red announced WHAT exactly transfers with your savegames? Or is it just raven armor + aerondight and gwhalir steel sword (we'll in my case though).
Some people have talked about different reactions from people of the factions present in TW1. I know that talking with Iorveth, Yaevinn was mentioned and how my Geralt didn't side with him.

And Adda's status is also mentioned in the prologue.
I went with Roche. He's proven helpful and supportive of my innocence, while Iorveth collaborated with the Kingslayer and generally has been nothing but a pain (he's downright been a douche, if you ask me *grin*).

Granted, Zoltan has good points, but I couldn't justify betraying Roche in favour of Iorveth.

At least not on that playthrough. The next one I will side with the elves.

I went went Iorveth this time... I finshed the first Witcher by doing the neutral path, but this time around, the Squirrels really seemed to grab my attention more. (maybe it has something to do with the fact that the actually look a bit more like elves in this game? In the TW1 they looked like strange looking bald Romulans or something...) In TW2, I think I really felt more that they were in the right.

Also, personally, Roche seems like a jerk.... at the party, he kicks the snot out of that townsperson, and then he screws up the capturing of the kingslayer... Also, when part 1 started and the elves were attacking, he kept on making comments about Triss's butt, and that kinda annoyed me. I mean, come on, Roche, you don't talk that way about a Witcher's woman!

Iorveth also seemed to be really cool... and a lot more of a flushed out character than Roche. Plus, it made more sense to have a squad of elite elven archers on my side than a bunch of soldiers that had fallen out of favor.

Also, the Squirrels are usually the underdogs, and I think Geralt, as the lone wolf he is, would support an underdog more than a king's follower
You need to play both. The story is pretty incomplete with just one perspective.

The events of both sides really play off each other and makes for a far more complete experience than only playing one side. My second playthrough was definitely more entertaining as all the little things popped out as I choose the other side.

This is the correct answer. Play both.

That's what Triss always thinks, and she inevitably gets herself and everyone else in trouble. Good times. ;)
I sided with Iorveth. Vergen is just too awesome to miss. Plus Iorveth actually becomes a very well thought out and developed character.

Reading the books, and watching the TV series, and the backstories of The Witcher 1 and Witcher 2, Geralt seemed to have more friends that were non human. I don't know, seemed natural to side with non humans again.

Plus it was satisfying watching Henselt get his ass handed to him. I seemed to sympathize with the Kingslayers... hence my endgame decision.

I'm going to Side with Roche my next play through.

.

Plus, Roche has that silly hat/headscarf thing. I try to ignore it, but its always just *there*.
