****** Intro ******
Not sure if anyone noticed this (given the fact that there is less backtracking in TW2) but while I was hunting for the elusive "Magic Resistance" ability (in a rather "misguided" attempt), I had to run around and try to activate several Places of Power.

****** Note ******
By activating a Place of Power, I mean activating your medallion and then walk through the red lightning/aura to get its effects.

****** Crux ******
What I noticed is that, once you activated a Place of Power, if you meditate (say for one week), you won't be able to activate the same Place of Power again regardless of how long you meditate.

But if you save and load, you'll be able to activate the same Place of Power again, without having to wait at all.

I've forgotten how TW1 works, but I thought the Place of Power there regenerates with time.

This might be an intended design, but it doesn't make much sense for it to be this way.
Oh, so that is why I sometimes am able to use the same place of power, only minutes after I've already activated it? I thought they were simply on an incredibly short respawn timer. What you describe makes more sense. In TW1 they are limited to a number of uses per day, which can be increased by acquiring specific talents. I don't know if this is bugged there as well, but that's the intention, at least.
TW2 uses real time, not in-game time for some respawn time values.

Good to know! That they reset after a save/load doesn't seem like it's an intended feature, however.
I noticed that TW2 uses an optimized save. That means only Geralt related infos are saved and any world related infos are omitted.

To add to what Kindo said, save and load can take only a few seconds of real time, yet the place of power "respawns", so to speak.

So if you meditate in TW1, you can make the places of power "respawn"?

I'm not too sure about that. For example, I think it saves respawn info as well. I remember trying to respawn by meditating and by saving/loading, I think only the former worked.

I'm sorry, but I don't know. I've never had to make use of these places of powers often enough to even try it out - let me run some tests now (since I'm in the middle of a playthrough as we speak)...

... Alright, it seems to have the same errors you see in TW2. I exhausted a Place of Power (due to a talent, I can use it twice daily), then went away to rest. I rested 48 hours just to make sure, and when I came back, it had not reset. So either it's like in TW2, where it counts real time, or it's just bugged. I also tried saving/reloading, and what do you know, the Place of Power reset immediately once I had finished loading! Oh dear, oh dear... :P

Thanks for testing it out. I wonder, isn't the point of meditating to fast forward to a certain game time without having to go through the equivalent amount of real time. Imagine if you have to wait for what, 2 hours in real time to pass, so that you can meet up a certain character for a quest at night. I'm puzzled by the inconsistency here.

Nevertheless, it's not a big deal.
