It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Update 2
If you want to know how to edit the textures (thats the xbm files) read here
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/mod_return_of_the_white_wolf_hair_replacement_texture/post13

Update 1
Ok ;) Firstly, this is not "my invention" i just think that this needs to be spelled out properly for more mods to come faster.

So here it goes.

All credits go to the guys in this topic http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6634&start=15 - they made the scripts to unpack it.

First,
Download QuickBMS here - http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers.htm#quickbms

Second, Download this txt file - http://filesmelt.com/dl/scriptw2.txt
(which is what chrrox posted in the 3rd post on page 2 of that topic, just in textfile form to make it easier)

Third, unpack quickbms, put the text file in the same directory.

Now start quickbms64_test.exe point it to the scriptw2.txt then point it to the pack0.dzip in The Witcher 2\CookedPC

Extract it to a location of your choice (not in The Witcher 2\CookedPC though!) it takes a while

Again, all credits go to the guys on xerrox and particularly chrrox. I did not write anything in this script myself, i am just putting it together so everyone can get to the files and try their hand modding. The contents of scriptw2.txt are identical to chrrox's post i linked to, so you can just copy that code segment into your own text file and get the same file that i uploaded on filesmelt.

Info: I claim no ownership nor rights to any part of anything i linked to.

This should be a sticky!
cool thing for modders.thanks!
Thanks !!! .
Fantastic, except.....

Neither download link works for me.
Filesmelt keeps showing me a page that says "Your download is ready" but no matter what I click on it just cames back to the same page. It does the same for the potions and oils downloads.
(Tried two PCs)

The altervista web site for the 64 bit V of quickbms gives me
>> alterVista
>> La risorsa richiesta è accessibile qui

I have the script from the xentax site, so I don't really need that, just the 64Bit QuickBms.

EDIT:Got it working. Thank you very much. had to keep whacking the refresh button on the altervista page and eventually it allowed me to download the prog.
Extacting happily. :)

Damnation! ;) Ok, it has a direct link protection, awesome, didn't notice it, but anyway, fixed the link to the main-page, just click on the linky there, its the same link, just has hotlinking protection.

As for the filesmelt download for the script

The download "link" is literally below the AD (or if you block it, below the "we hate you for blocking our ads" text thing.

I am not sure what else to say, filesmelt worked for everyone so far (i am not doing mods for the first time in my life ,p)

Alternative filehosters require accounts and have wait-times and captchas and what not.

I know it is not your work, and I have no idea if you are male or female...
Keeping in mind I am male, but screw biology.
I will now have your babies if you so desire. :)

Hehe, no time for babies ;) (I am male!)

Are you sure filesmelt is not working for the xml files though? If so, that'd be very curious, what browser are using?

Normally when you click on the link there should be a preparing download or something, once that is finished and you see the "your download is ready" you can literally click on the link (in the mod topic) again and it will initiate the download straight away.

Sadly, we can't attach zip files on gog

I wouldn't go that far but I'll say 3 "Hail all Nerds" prayer!!
Here is how to edit the textures (not the only or most efficient way, but it works)

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/mod_return_of_the_white_wolf_hair_replacement_texture/post13

As usual, i only make this kind of info easily findable and understandable ;) So that modders can mod! All credits go to the awesome guys on xentax forums.

Anyone figured out where the game stores the meshes?

hismastersvoice: Anyone figured out where the game stores the meshes?
Not that i am aware of.
they're stored in w2rc string files.

ala w2ent, w2mesh, etc.

once the w2 resource strings are figured out(someone's working on) you can open those files.

if you can read and write w2ent files, that means you can change equipment templates, like add helmets and armor to geralt's inventory...but it would be easier to replace existing armor with an xml file.

in your extracted folder:

engine\meshes\occlusion\nigger.w2mg

scandalous!

Seen that as well... some graphic artist with bad humor slipped it in I guess ~.~ Well you can't blame them for not expecting people to mod the game.. and find stuff ^^
