I stopped playing Witcher 2 a while ago cause my pc wasnt that good to handle it. I upgraded it so decided to install the game and give it a go again. I used my previously downloaded installers. By the way it is the plain witcher 2 not the enhanced edition.

That is where the problem starts, in terms of game version. Which version do i have for gods sake??!! .exe details says it is 1.0.6041 and patcher says my game is up to date. but 1.0.6041 is not the latest verison, is it? so i downloaded patch 1.1 but it says "installed game verison is invalid or incomplete"

I dont want to download all the installers once again, so how can i install the patches?? and WHY IS IT SO COMPLICATED???
So you have Witcher 2 from GOG from before the time the Enhanced Edition was here? My guess would be the GOG version needs some magic for the official patches to work. GOG should make patches available in the game's download. I'd advice to contact support.
Yes I bought the witcher 2 when it was first released. and installers are from that time.

are you suggesting that the patches wont work for GOG versions or do i misunderstand you? in that case I'd say: WTF??!!! does it mean I have to download all the game again everytime a patch is released??Sorry i cant help myself but WTF!!!!

:(

No. Patches work, but the GOG version has a different 1.1 than other versions because it was the only version without DRM to begin with and the normal 1.1 patch strips out the DRM for the other versions. Because of that, after 1.1 all versions are identical and all patches work with all versions equally.

How far do you want to update? The latest patch is 3.3, and updating that far means updating to the Enhanced Edition (which is free, but a 12 gigabyte download, in which case it'd probably be faster and easier to just download the updated install files that currently install version 3.0).

Here's the GOG 1.1 patch: GOG 1.1

And since a bunch of patches disappeared last I checked, here are 1.2, 1.3, and 1.35:

1.2
1.3
1.35

Beyond that you're looking at version 2.0, which is a ~900 MB download, followed by the much smaller 2.1, and then the massive Enhanced Edition patch and a few smaller patches after that (well, 3.3 is ~384 MB, but it's totally unnecessary).

All things considered, I'd just download the updated installer if you want to update all the way. It'd be around the same size to download in the end, and with much less that could go wrong.
I agree..it makes much more sense to download all the installers. But I must say the way patches handled in gog.com is really weird.

that said I am facing another problem now: I can't see "my Profile" section at gog.com to see my games and download installers. When I click "Support" it says "We're overwhelmed by popularity of our service" under a world picture (tried both Internet explorer and chrome) just as it did when "my profile" was visible a few hours ago. Cleaned the cache, changed the dns settings, and yes I turned off and on the computer :) but nothing seems to help.

Everything is ok when I connect from my mobile phone though..

Thank you guys for the detailed and explanatory information provided.
