wgeo: I'm also getting
Feature: required files
Component: Data
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The official site says to try and copy/paste to hd, but data2.cab wont!
And yes my DVDROM reads dual layer.
Any help would be appreciated
it's because your dvd player can't read DVD9 it's fairly new

That's terrific, for someone who has an external drive lying around. What about those of us who didn't know we had to upgrade our DVD-rom drives to install the game? I need some kind of resolution here, or this game is getting returned. (albeit, grugingly)
I'm getting this exact same error when trying to install the game from the disc. When I try to copy my first disc to my hdd, it hangs up on the data2.cab file and I get the error "Cannot read from the source file or disk." Just before this happens there's a scratch like noise that comes from my dvd drive. However, I copied the entire 2nd disc just fine, no problem, onto my hdd. I'd like to play this game, but it seems I'll either have to exchange it or return it, and I really don't want to exchange it if this is gonna happen no matter what.
I managed to get my game installed, but it also required another computer, and I'm still not exactly sure why I couldn't install it on my computer with my own dvd drive. I was able to install off the 2nd disc just fine, which I'm assuming is also a dual layer, or dvd9 disc. I guess the best anyone can do is either borrow/rent a laptop (I borrowed my sister's laptop), or buy a newer DVD drive, or maybe a bluray drive if you've got the money. Funny. Usually when I think of PC upgrades for a video game, it's the cpu, gpu and RAM that come to mind first, not the optical drive...
I had the same problem. Think outside the box. Hopefully you have friends. Take the game over to their house drag the contents of the disc on to their hard drive. Put it in a folder/zip folder. Then put it on an external HD, or thumb drive, or digital storage site like dropbox or something (although you would have to purchase dropbox to be able to hold the full 8 gigs online).

The disc wouldn't run on my tower either, luckily I had a laptop (thats actually 3 years older than the tower DVD drive, which I found odd but I'm not complaining.) Dragged the contents of the disc into a folder on my laptop, transfered it on my External HD then installed it from there on my tower.
Run as administrator.

worked for me
Hello Everyone,

I know this post is a couple of years old but I had the same problem too. The way I got around all of this was I copied the discs in to two different folders one that was for disc 1 and one for disc 2, After I copied them I converted them to ISO files with IMGBurn. After the ISO files were created I mounted the discs up with Daemon tools and ran the setup from the virtual drive that Daemon tools installs with the program. I haven't had any problems with the install. Or another solution is that you can rebrun the data files from the discs to new DL DVDs and run the setup process again. I hope this helps everyone out with this problem as this solution worked for me.
