So it seems like the drop rates have changed drastically with Patch 1.2

As in, they've gone down considerably. Wearing the Herbalist Gloves and the +100% Alchemy Ingredients ability from the skill tree would net me atleast 8 items from a downed Nekker, Now, I'm lucky if I get 3.

Is there anyway to adjust the drop rates back to their normal versions pre-Patch 1.2? I like most of the fixes, but this sort of makes me feel....cheated? Lol.

It was a rebalance! and I agree I thought droprates were adequate originally, different only for hard and insane!! I rolled it back to 1.1 myself. You will probably have to have a modder add items to a vendor list then adjust a loot table!!
How do you roll back patches?
have you reinstalled the game or is there an other way to go back to 1.1? I've found that i get much much less mutagen with the new patch
Hmm.. 1.2 notes don't mention it but Mutagens are so very rare to find now, particularly Greater one. At this stage pre 1.2 I used to have at least 5 of each Greater type but now I found only one Greater Crits and some 2 of other Greater types. Not complaining, just noticing it. Actually it is cool that mutagens are not that cheap anymore!

And Herbalist's Gloves should not affect loot from dead monsters as it did pre patch. Effect on herbs gathering are still working fine. It is not "Hunter's gloves" after all.

PS.: I only play Insane so my remarks apply to that diff. I expect lower diffs to be different.

I haven't tried it yet succesfully, but delete the game dir and the download patcher_1.2.exe(or rename)in your dowloads dir where your gamesaves are; then reinstall (I have GOG don't know if that will work with others) I'm not sure about running the 1.1 patch because the Witcher site said that the launcher will automatically update to 1.2 (which is not what you want). Then run the game from the witcher2.exe and not the launcher!!

I had tried this by disconnecting my internet so it wouldn't update but it had already installed the patcher_1.2 so it sniffed it out there, now I have to retry this method!!
I think this is the mod that makes all mutagens have the stats of their Greater version.

The description is a little unclear, but I believe that is what it does.

(If that is the right one, it also leaves prices the same. So, if you use a Lesser, with Greater stats, you can sell any Greater at it's normal price. Means extra orens in you pocket too.)

Theres also this one here, which allows you to combine lesser mutagens into greater ones.

Also, I thought that when the launcher pops up with the 1.2 patch, it asked you if you want to install, not force feed you some patchy goodness?

Good call on the other mod. I used the other one first, so never switched to that one. Second one seems to fit better with the overall game.

Yeah, I had to install the patch manually, even though the launcher downloaded it automatically. I think it would be possible to play with no patches at all.
So, I am not loosing my mind about this issue? The 1.2 patch did do something with the mutagen drop rate?

I am looking for confirmation, since when I installed the 1.2 patch yesterday, I had just reached Flotsom and rescued those two bums [ :) ] and not done anything else yet- this being my third playthrough.

Anyway, now I am doing my witcherly duty for the town by ridding the area of monsters and there are just no mutagens to be found, while in my other two playthroughs, I found over 200 mutagens in act one and sold them for cash.

Please, can anyone confirm this is part of the #9 item on the list for rebalances? alternatively, can anyone confirm it is just a run of bad luck with the number generator. I am somewhat gullible and will believe you. Thanks
post patch 1.2, 5 drowner kills = 1 drowner brain out of all 5 of them :( nothing else. this is on hard mode.

did all the other 4 drowners not have brains?

cdp nerf the drops a bit too much.

nerfing mutagen drops is totally fine as I always had too many lesser ones.

nerfing ingredient drops wasn't and isn't needed.

How did you roll back? Did you just reinstall and then update to 1.1?
lol nerfing is not ok, I need that cash for the armor in act 3 :)

Then again, I suppose I could just remove the game and reinstall day one release and not have Troll Trouble quest. Or I could just install one of the "make it all better" mods out there -- but so many of these are too far the other way, when all I want is really just the way the game meant them to be to begin with.

hmmm... suggestions?
The reduction in mutagens drop is way over the top. It certainly needed some adjustments as Greater ones were very cheap. Every nekker dropped one.

But now it's a little too much. I found one Greater Critical early in the game (level 6) and only now at level 18 I found a second. So I have 5 slots and 4 of them were empty from level 6 to 18... let's see how long to fill the remaining 3.
This one may be a little over the top, but would certainly seem to solve the problem. It claims to make the drop rate 100% for any item a mob might drop:
