Sorry guys (and gals) I meant to reply to this thread earlier but forgot. I don't really know what fixed the issue in my case, I just emptied my save folder and deleted all the config files and started a new game with sensible parameters in the User.ini. I haven't tested my saved games from earlier playthroughs just yet.

If you had any Mods installed, that could have been an issue as well.

Nope I installed my first mods for TW2 today :)

Ok. Then I guess that was ruled out. Just a thought anyway, but you had already Uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, so pretty much a moot point at that stage. : )

No actually I didn't. Did you misread my post or something? I just deleted my profile folder and that's it.
Anyone who has a problem with game crashing on making savegames please send me your dxdiag report on email: andrzej.kwiatkowski@cdprojektred.com

We are working on a patch and would like to look into this issue, but first we need to reproduce this problem. It never occured on more than 100 different computers in our studio. We need to recreate identical machines with same hardware, system and driver configuration as you have.

Strange now I get a random CTD when I load the game, oh well :D

EDIT: OK I don't get CTDs anymore when saving the game, but I'll send you my dxdiag.txt and user.ini just in case...

Had another play session of about two hours without save-crash yesterday, so lowering texture memory size really might have fixed the problem. I've sent in my dxdiag anyway.

@prehto81: You said you "started a new game with sensible parameters in the User.ini" - do you remember which settings you changed? Did you perchance lower texture memory size, too? You didn't use this 3GB RAM allocation thingie, either, did you?

I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 and have 8 GB of RAM so no need for the allocation fix. I'm using 1000 for 'TextureMemoryBudget' setting (I figured cuz I have 1 GB of VRAM...)

Thanks for hellping!

The game still crashes almost everytime, I try to save (or at autosaves).
I just sent the dxdiag.txt and user.ini

meat
After not having any crashes for the last few play sessions, the game crashed today when performing a regular save. Guess I can get the crashes for all kinds of saves, too.

Furthermore, I'm getting the impression that the bug is related to how long you play. The last couple of session, that where all crash-free, only took about 2 hours each, while I played for about 4 hours today, with the save crash occuring at the very end.
Also, after changing texture memory size, I tried to reproduce the bug by just walking around and pressing F5 every few seconds, but I neither got a crash with lowered, nor with very high texture memory size, in about 30 tries each.

How does it work for other people, who get the crashes at a higher frequency? Do you often get your first crash after a few minutes, or does it take some time?
I don get the crashing problem though :( I honestly have experience only 2 ctds so far with like 70+ hours of play time.
I'm still having this problem, has anyone found a solution in the meantime?

Personally, the only time I experience crashes is when there are too many things going on for my computer to handle. Have you tried lowering the game resolution to something ridiculously tiny and seeing if that helps at all? Figure that sometimes saving is the needle that breaks the camel's back and lowering the screen resolution might lessen the load.

Just a thought.
That was among the first things I tried. And on top of that, I never experienced any performance problems, at all. I was in contact with CDP support, and tried everything, they suggested, but I havent heard from them, in a while.
