There have been quite a few people with problems with/after installing Patch 1.2. Most of these issues can be resolved by a relatively small set of solutions which I want to gather in this thread for future reference. If I forgot anything please post here or PM me.

If none of these solutions work for you, feel free to open a new thread - it is more likely to be seen than a post in here and allows a clearer arrangement.

If you run into a problem with the installation of (patch won't install, invalid/incomplete game etc) or after installing (game doesn't start, DLC gone/not working, etc) Patch 1.2, you can try the following:

- Make sure the launcher is not running when trying to patch the game
- Run the patcher_1.2.exe using right-click->run as admin
- If the launcher downloaded the patch and an install icon shows up but nothing happens, close the launcher and manually run the patcher_1.2.exe from your C:\users\<username>\Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads folder
- On a fresh installation, make sure to apply Patch 1.1 first, then 1.2.
- Make sure Patch 1.1 is installed correctly. Check The Witcher 2\bin\witcher2.exe's mouse-over for the version number. If it says 1.0.xxxx try installing Patch 1.1, then 1.2.
- Remove all mods and
- Delete all the DLC files from The Witcher 2\CookedPC and then try applying 1.2 again. Those are:
alchemy_suit.dzip
dlc_finishers.dzip
hairdresser.dzip
magical_suit.dzip
merchant.dzip
roche_jacket.dzip
swordsman_suit.dzip
troll.dzip

The near-fail-safe (but time-consuming) method is:
1. Get patches 1.1 (here) and 1.2 (here). Make sure you download the right version of 1.1 for your game version (retail, gog, regional restrictions...)
2. Un-install game, delete all remaining folders and files except your savegames (this includes the Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads folder!)
3. Reboot, disconnect internet
4. Install the game by starting the setup.exe with 'run as admin'. Do NOT start the game afterwards.
5. Install Patch 1.1 using 'run as admin'
6. Install Patch 1.2 using 'run as admin'

Final note: Thanks to hanns.g for checking the list for missing/false parts.

There's no benefit to running the patches as admin, as they already have that requirement in the executable, hence the shield icon.

You're right. I compiled that list solely based on the general purpose of making it as fail-safe as possible. I didn't check for that. Plus, there's no harm in a few extra clicks.
