So, during the entire course of the game, only in 2 or 3 opportunities did the game allow me to spend talents on the skill trees. Most of the time I go there to spend, it just won't let me, not by double-clicking nor using the space bar. It simple does nothing. Right now I have 8 talent points and can't spend them. And no, I'm not trying to spend on skills too far away in the tree

First off, you gotta meditate then goto character screen to spend the talents.

Second, you need to spend 6 (if i recall right) points in the Witcher tree to open the other 3 (sword, alch, magic).

Or maybe im reading it wrong, do you have a "click" problem?. If so sorry, ignore this.
You are meditating aren't you? You have to meditate to spend points. You can't do it through the character screen.
Really? I'm pretty sure I spend talents without meditation.

So did I. You don't need to meditate to spend talents.
Anyone found a bug where you stop gaining XP?
You don't have to mediate. This isn't Witcher 1. Just press c to go into the character screen.

Sounds like another bug to be patched to me.
I think you do have to meditate. At least for me. I was trying to spend skill points just from the character screen and it wouldn't let me. But when I meditated, then I could spend skills.

You don't have to meditate. You might have to on a difficulty higher then normal, I don't know about that. However I know for a fact that you don't have to meditate on normal. You can spend talent points at any time, even in the middle of a battle.

Yeah, I'm playing on hard.
Yeah I just tested it out. On normal you can spend talent points just by hitting "C" to bring up the menu but on hard you have to meditate first.
You do not have to meditate to spend points, but you do have to ensure you chain through tiers to unlock access to the skill you want. In all but the lowest level skills, you have to unlock an earlier skill connected by a line to access the higher level skill, you cannot jump across or up unless you have learnt a skill connected by one of these lines.

I'm having this same problem sometimes. It is annoying! Someone fix this please!

EDIT: NM. Just found out that It works during meditation. It is weird tho. During my first run I could buy skill with talents without meditation.

The same thing happened to me. I believe it's related to game difficulty. On normal you can spend the points in the character screen, but on hard you have to meditate first. No idea why that is, though, I'm guessing it's a bug.
Yes, that's exactly it.
You can even test it easily.
Change difficulty to normal or lower -> you can spend points freely
Change to hard -> you can spend only when meditating
