Lykul: Thank you for the clarification Liosan.

I didn't mean done in the sense of they'll never do anything again. But given how long it's been since this game came out, it seems to me that the argument for implementing the achievements properly gets weaker as time goes on (why invest the time when the game's biggest financial impact for CDR is already past). Even if they did make a return to the Witcher series, I think they would be focused on the new game(s), not fixing old ones.
Many companies put out enhancements for their older games quite regularly. Look at Postal 2 for example, it's like 13 years old or so and got several patches in the last few years that add tonnes of functionality, add high res widescreen support, a free new expansion pack, and they released another expansion pack separately (that still isn't here on GOG yet).

Sure, a lot of game companies patch their games 3 times then never touch them again, but a lot of companies support their games for several years if not continuously too. It's not as common but it happens, and CDPR is one of the companies that seems to value their gamers and go that extra mile to do things. Look at Valve - they still actively support every game they've ever released including putting out regular patches for Half-life released in like 1997. Why would a company do that? Because they obviously think that there is value in doing so and they decide to do it.
Well, if the achievements aren't coming anytime soon, I guess I might as well put the game back on the shelf, so to speak.

Maybe by the time Witcher 3 is in a price range I'm willing to buy it for, the achievements will have finally been implemented.
I want to thank everyone for their participation in this thread, so that we could receive an official response.

While I don't blame you for this perspective--I myself was disappointed when I started playing only to find the achievements still didn't work in the Galaxy client--The Witcher 2 is so positively amazing I really wouldn't delay playing it. You will probably finish it only to find you want to play it again, and then you can wait for the achievements, maybe. ;) My two cents from having recently completed it, myself.

My Witcher 2 story:
1. Game didn't work when I got it, finally forced myself to play it many years later.
2. Stopped playing when I discovered that the Steam version has achievements while GOG version doesn't.
3. Waited for a sale and bought the Steam version. Uninstalled the GOG version, installed Steam version.
4. Before I got around to play the Steam version I learned that Galaxy achievements are coming.
5. Waited for Galaxy achievements to be implemented, uninstalled the Steam version and installed the Galaxy version.
6. Finally decided to play the GOG version today, noticed that achievements are gone again.
7. Uninstalled the GOG version, am installing the Steam version now.

Liosan: The achievements in The Witcher 2 were never actually implemented. Sorry for the horrible confusion this caused :( We removed them until their implementation is finished.

So any actual news then? :D We know that CDP is working very slow in the matter of GOG Galaxy etc. but I hope this won't take as long as the promised Linux compatibility of GOG Galaxy?!
I agree. Would love some official news on this topic.

I still don't understand why Steam has Witcher 2 achievements, but GOG cannot implement them even though CD projekt is the developer and GOG's sister company.

I would much rather support GOG that buying the game on Steam.
Any news about achievements ?

Exactly. I mean, come on.
So I just bought Witcher 2 for GOG. Was very disappointed after learning it has no achievements. I prefer using GOG over Steam. Will you guys implement them? It's been almost a year since an official GOG post.
Really?! I went through the trouble of downloading GOG Galaxy, uninstalling TW2, re-downloading TW2 and then reinstalling TW2 only to find out Achievements don't work! What a waste of my time. I guess i should have bought it on Steam.

People only buy the steam version because of the achievements
Yeah, gog/CDProjekt is setting their priorities sometimes a bit strange.
Achievements are not the biggest thing, but just like the user over me pointed it out already, I also know at least 2 people that said that they bought TW2 on Steam, because of the achievements.

If you want to read more about these things, go to google and search for achievements on PlayStation and why they are so important for a fair amount of consumers and another reason to buy Sony's console.

How can that be that they push GOG Galaxy with the overlay, cloud saves etc. so big as "new features" for marketing and present it proudly on CDProjekt's financial presentation for H1 2017, but then they stop right there and don't finish these "features" in a way, consumers might expect it!?

When will you realize the achievements in The Witcher 2? Discuss this issue on the planers or inform the company's management. CDPROJEKT games must support all GOG GALAXY functions. Also I ask you to add achievements in the games ELEX and Ruiner, they are on Steam and in the GoG should also be. I bought a game from you and I want to see full functionality in it.
