Kibou: Apart from being completely gone now, analogue controls for the quick menu also didn't really work that well in 1.0 - at least in my opinion.

After opening the quick menu, I'd have expected to just push and hold the Control Stick to the left, and the move it in the direction of the sign I want to select (e.g. pressing left to select signs in general, then moving to the upper left to select Aard), but hat didn't work. Instead you had to move up or down the list of signs step-by-step, which, in my opinion, is too slow and cumbersome for a "quick" selection menu.

The problem of analogue controls not working seems to go beyond the quick selection menu, by the way - in 1.1, it is not possible at all to scroll through long journal entries using the XBox Controller. I guess in 1.0 the right Control Stick was used for that.
1. As to the cumbersome method of navigating the quick menu, this was present in 1.0 and removed in 1.1, yes—Xpadder configured as I've posted brings back this ability.

I do agree that the way the quick menu works is flawed and counterintuitive. However, I merely restored the ability to use it with the left analog stick as it was in 1.0

2. If you read my post more carefully you'll see that I also addressed the problem of not being able to scroll through journal entries, etcetera, in 1.1

Again, Xpadder configured as I've posted brings back the ability to scroll with the right analog stick (assuming keyboard and controller controls are set to default in The Witcher 2 Launcher).

You can use the Xbox 360 controller in 1.1 exactly as in 1.0, via Xpadder.

EDIT:

To be clear, not only does Xpadder restore quick menu selection and journal scrolling, but also allows you to use the left analog to navigate -any- menu or selection in game.

For examples, you can navigate the main menu (e.g. new game, load game, options), dialogue choices, and inventory with the left analog stick.

Thank you witcherface, I am going to test it.

BTW the controller support is really half-baked in this game. I seriously hope they will improve it and make it perfect - no super sensitivity in menus, quick menu selection as it should be etc.

edit - hmmm it seems this xpadder version does not work on Win7 64bit.

Shame...guess it is back to waiting for patch.

I am glad I finished the game with 1.0 without any problems or bugs.

Well a little of browsing in the net and I found that there is a work around on that. It removes the operation system check in xpadder and I got it to work. At least it opens and seems fine. Not tried with the game. Just use the compatability administrator x32 version in the toolkit thingy even though your system and mine also is x64. And instead "WinXPSP2VersionLie" I used the vista sp something. Not really know does that matter.

That's strange. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and Xpadder 5.3 works flawlessly.

I'm also glad I was able to play the game the way through on 1.0 without any major issues. So many others weren't even able to activate the game, while others had all sorts of graphics and logic bugs.
alright ive installed Xpadder and using the setting from the good witcher user my menus and sign selection are working 100% within the game now! AMAZING! thanks again brother!
I have some minor improvements to add:

first of all you don't need that ridiculous 67% deadzone, if your controller doesn't do stuff while you are not clicking or moving sticks your good.
what you do want is:

1. click on the wrench thingy in xpadder next to your left analog stick
2. click Arrows
3. click 4-Way Standard
4. close it.

this greatly decreases random jumps from e.g. the signs, to your pockets.

next, if you, just like me also configured the middle stick clicks you can add something like i,M,J to the right stick for some easy access.
the left stick is already used for Z so....

also, the back button has no standard functionality I added f5 to it for some quick and easy saving :)

I've attached an image that shows the exact setup I use

I like the additions of quick saving and inventory access.

However, the 67% deadzone was not so that the left stick does't do anything when not being pressed: The 67% deadzone lessens how "touchy" the left analog stick is.

At 25%, you can press down once to have it move down two or even three rows or selections. For example, were my selection currently Aard, and I tried to select Yrden, it would sometimes jump to Igni or even Quen, instead of stopping at Yrden.

When I adjusted it to 50%, it was still too touchy. 67%, however, with changing nothing else, feels nearly identical to how selection felt before Patch 1.1.

It could simply be my controller, or what feels right to me, unless you are stating that setting the left analog stick to four-way standard decreases this touchiness without changing the deadzone. I'll try this.

The four-way standard is a good call :).
yeah the 4-Way Standard kinda solves the problem with the "touchy" stick so you don't need to adjust the deadzone
