Ok since i applyed the new patch the feature to choose signs and items using the analog stick is no more! That's very bad cause it was easy and confrotable to use it in fights. Question is there a way to put it back on or a mod that may do this?
Thanks and have a nice one!
Yeah, same thing happened to me. Kinda lame having to use the D-pad during combat on my Xbox 360 controller.
Yep, made me revert back to 1.0 because I find everything controls much more fluidly and comfortably with a gamepad, and not being able to read through my journal and having to take my finger off the analog stick during combat to switch through my signs/traps/bombs is not only frustrating, but almost gamebreaking - at least for me.

This is one of the only games I use a gamepad for as well, so it's not just a case of me preferring gamepads over a keyboard & mouse.. hell, I play a metric fuckton of Arma 2 so I'm used to convoluted and complicated controls and find most PC games impossible to play with a gamepad save a few exceptions - Prototype and GTA IV are the only other games I own that I primarily use a gamepad for.

I even sent in a support ticket (http://www.en.thewitcher.com/support/) the day the patch was released and have yet to receive a response - numerous threads on these very forums have also pointed out the issue and there has been no word from CDP as far as I'm aware - very frustrating since I imagine it could be fixed in under 60 seconds and a hotfix could be released for gamepad users - it was working perfectly in 1.0 so there's really no excuse.

Oh well, ultimately it doesn't effect my opinion of the game or of CD Projekt because this is without a doubt the best game I've played in the last 10 years and I am apparently one of the lucky few that had absolutely zero problems with 1.0 - still quite annoying nonetheless.
I'll just cross my fingers and hope CDP release some hotfix and give us a option to have this back onto the game! I really miss it!
Yeah, honestly I had no reason at all to upgrade to 1.1. The game worked perfectly for me before, even on my modest Nvidia GT220. So I guess this is a clear case of, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Greetings,

This issue is actually really easy to fix:

A) Download Xpadder 5.3 (link: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Xpadder.shtml).

B) Go through the setup controller process in which you add the analog sticks, dpad and buttons.

C) To the left analog stick, map the arrow keys.

D) Right-click the little icon that looks like a wrench next to the left analog stick area and set the deadzone to 67%.

E) To the up and down directions of the right analog stick, map mouse wheel up and mouse wheel down, respectively.

I've uploaded an image to help those who might need it (link: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/834/captureka.png/).

This will allow you to use the left analog stick to navigate menus and the right analog stick to scroll through journal entries -exactly- as it worked prior to Patch 1.1.

I've been playing my second run of the Witcher 2 with Patch 1.1 installed and Xpadder configured like this for a few days now—it feels identical to the controls before patching.

Please spread the word!

EDIT:

To make it incredibly easy for anyone to play The Witcher 2 with Patch 1.1 installed with an Xbox 360 controller, I've uploaded (link: http://www.2shared.com/file/8TS9MkCP/Xpadder.html) a complete package which includes:

1. Xpadder 5.3.
2. Xbox 360 Controller for Windows profile.
3. Settings profile already configured.

Just download the .rar file, unpack it and run the Xpadder application directly from inside the folder.

I don't even own the game yet but that seems like a great tip.
Weird that at first game doesn't support keyboard fully and patching fixes that but then it takes away something of the controller.
Well, I own controller so when I get the game i'll decide which controls are better.
And btw.. Does the game have the rumble function supported? I asked same thing a sometime ago, but I don't remembergetting an answer. =)

It doesn't innately support the rumble feature.

You could actually add rumble via Xpadder as well, if only to certain button presses and not based on game output.

I experimented with adding rumble to the sword buttons, but of course the problem is that these buttons do a lot more than just swing your swords. There are other problems, but that's the most invalidating.

As to which control method is better: I don't subscribe to k+m or gamepad being completely better than the other under all circumstances—it differs game to game.

For The Witcher 2, the Xbox 360 controller controls are superior to k+m for the majority of the game (e.g. moving around with more degree of freedom, combat, targeting during combat). However, the controller controls within menus leave much to be desired.

I've been playing solely with the Xbox 360 controller. When you get used to menu navigation with it, the overall experience controls very smoothly. The added bonus, of course, is sitting farther back from the screen, which makes the visuals look even more stupidly pretty.
I really hope this gets fixed too. :(

StonerPimp: How nice of you to post something which is actully not free, your basically posting pirated software on the forum.
5.3 was the last free version, it was only from 5.4 on that he started charging for it.

THANK YOU FOR THIS! I can finally install 1.1.
Apart from being completely gone now, analogue controls for the quick menu also didn't really work that well in 1.0 - at least in my opinion.

After opening the quick menu, I'd have expected to just push and hold the Control Stick to the left, and the move it in the direction of the sign I want to select (e.g. pressing left to select signs in general, then moving to the upper left to select Aard), but hat didn't work. Instead you had to move up or down the list of signs step-by-step, which, in my opinion, is too slow and cumbersome for a "quick" selection menu.

The problem of analogue controls not working seems to go beyond the quick selection menu, by the way - in 1.1, it is not possible at all to scroll through long journal entries using the XBox Controller. I guess in 1.0 the right Control Stick was used for that.
