1. Based on these specs how well would the game run on my pc

Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 32-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz
3072MB RAM (3 GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT and according to dxdiag and canyourunit.com 1.7GB Video RAM

Can You Run It says I can run it just fine but I wanted to get an opinion from someone that might have that same video card or same amount of RAM.

2. What sizes do the wallpapers come in? My resolution is 1680x1050.

Wish there was a demo for the game so I wouldn't have to ask this.

Can't help you with number one, but the wallpapers come in 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1920x1080, and 1920x1200.

thanks. I believe 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 are the same ratio so I could just use Photoshop to resize them.

Can't say I have a similar video card (btw RAM doesn't indicate how powerful a graphic card is). Here's a video of someone playing with 9600GT.

Your OS should be able to resize them automatically. I'm assuming you're running Windows for the sake of gaming, so there should be a "fit to screen" option. On XP you can right-click on the desktop, go to the "desktop" tab, and change "position" to "stretch."

Vista has you right-clicking on the desktop, clicking "personalize," then "desktop background," then choosing the first of the three radio buttons on the bottom of the window.

Not sure about Windows 7. I hate W7.

OP, in to compliment your flawless taste in icons. And the desktop fit thing should work the same in Win7 as it does in Vista.

Windows 7 destroyed 30-odd songs that I was working on and has been buggier for me in general than XP and Vista combined, something I can tell because I use all three. All that mixed together has been the recipe for an epic vendetta.

Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that. My experience is quite the opposite, the recovery system saved my files from certain doom so many times :\ And it ran better than XP on my old computer.

I only mentioned the Video RAM because that card is only supposed to have 512 MB but both dxdiag and canyourunit.com say it has 1.7 GB.

Yeah that guy has the same setup. Same processor too. Only difference was the amount of RAM. Hopefully the higher resolution doesn't affect the framerate. If it does, I guess I'll have to play it at 1280x720.

Does the game have a benchmark tool like Just Cause 2 (if you've ever played it on PC)?

I've only had Windows 7 for about 1-2 weeks and so far I've had no problem whatsoever.

I don't have any particular like or dislike regarding XP and 7, given that I haven't done many serious work on this computer (serious gaming doesn't count). I liked the visual and I like how things are more organized in Win 7. But I think Win 7 changed significantly compared to XP which probably destroyed some stuff in the process. No the game does not have a benchmark tool.

The resolution might be the one setting that affects performance the most (except for ubersampling).

Won't have to wait long to see how it runs. I'm buying it later today (Monday).

After you get the game downloaded and started up, ensure you get the 1.1 patch and install (that should be automatic with the GOG version). It will update itself to 1.2. And, 1.3 should only be days (or weeks - who knows) away.

Don't believe the game's "auto-configuration" tool. It is drunk or something because it recognizes high end hardware as Low and low end as High - and everything else in between. Open up the Advanced Graphics Options in the launcher and set it up yourself.

You'll enjoy your time with this game. Good choice.

That site claimed I have 2Gigs of VRAM, but I KNOW I have 1Gig. They are not always right. I wonder about the dxdiag, though. If you're uncertain, look up the data from the manufacturer.


And I have to agree with Peetz, that auto-configuration tool is not to be trusted. I put a "typewriter gpu", as I call it, into my gaming pc and for fun I ran the config tool. It wanted to play the game on HIGH settings, lol. When it wasn't even possible to even load a game with lowest settings, because a 256MB card can't do it. But when I put my big gpu together with a weak cpu, I can up the settings way above the recommended. Too many variables, I guess. To be honest, who even puts together hardware of such different performance capabilities? That was just a testing situation. ;)

That's the badge of a program that doesn't know it's way around Windows 7. Vista and W7 changed the display driver architecture in a way that causes older code (including dxdiag) to be mistaken about the available VRAM. What you get is the sum of VRAM and some main memory that Windows is using for backing store. It's a sort of (well, totally) useless number.
