Hi GOG community,

i apologise if this question was already asked and maybe solved before on the forum, but my searchings weren't successful to find the answer. The links with any help are very welcome and appreciated.

So the problem is a couple of days ago the green Play button on the Witcher Enhanced Edition in the GOG Galaxy 1.1.12 (Beta) stopped doing its work. I cannot launch the game anymore. After pressing the button it greys out for a couple of seconds and then turns green again no errors, no funny messages plus the launch window with the Witcher game, which usually appeared after, doesn't appear anywhere and the game does not launch. I did not update Windows or the GOG Galaxy Client, it just suddenly stopped working. I have tried to launch it manually from the game installation folder opening "launcher.exe" and reinstall both the game and the GOG Client but unfortunately nothing has helped me. I also tried the Verify/Repair game option in GOG Galaxy but also without luck. I have more games installed from GOG.com and they all launch normally from Galaxy Client without an issue except The Witcher Enhanced Edition.

Does anyone know what's the problem and the way through to fixing it? Please don't give the advices which i have already mentioned above they really don't work i have tried them many times.

P.S. I am running Windows 10 x64 Pro on i7 6700K, 32GB RAM with GTX 660 from Gigabyte plus 650 W PSU from EVGA (If this helps somehow)

This is a game forum for and old game so there is not much traffic here. Also there aren't many people who can help solving problems like this one. So it would probably be easier for you to ask GOG's customer support. :-)

It may not help, given manually starting launcher.exe doesn't work, but you can try even more directly, for witcher.exe in the System subfolder.

Otherwise you can try to contact GOG support and see if they have better solutions.

I have the same problem with the gog galaxy 2.0.37 Beta.
The "Play" button is purple in the meanwhile, but when I press it, it only greys out and nothing happens.
It also stays greyed out until gog galaxy is restarted.

When I open the installation folder and I execute the "Launch The Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut" file (yes, this is the actual filename) the launcher starts and I can also start the game.

But gog galaxy does not count the hours played this game and I am afraid the savegames are not synced with the cloud when started this way.

Can anybody confirm?

System: Windows 10 fully updated, AMD Ryzen 3800x on B350, AMD Radeon RX 6700XT.

Testing now... Went into Galaxy, clicked "Install" on Witcher Enhanced Edition. Noticed the installation is super slow for 14 gb.

Installed, clicked on "play" and.... the game launched the Witcher Launcher at the bottom of the screen, but it didn't take priority on the desktop, so I had to click it. I click it and.... it loaded immediately.

I'm going to guess you guys aren't seeing the launcher that pops up when you click "Play".

Also, the 1 minute I spent in the game was successfully tracked by Galaxy.



If you still haven't played through the game, you might want to try it again. Whatever issue you had, seems fixed.
