Why do you have to be 18 to download the Witcher, that is annoying. I really wanna play that game but i hate having physical copies (Or DRM filled ones coughsteamcoughorigincough) because i don't want to fill my shelves with games when i just can fill a hard drive instead. I do see that there is kinda explict content in this game but I wouldn't have any problem going into a norwegian game store and buy it (if they still sold it). Stuff like this is the main reason i stopped gaming on consoles. Would you please consider having all games available for everyone. This is such a good game website, my absolute favorite to be honest. I dont wont it to get the problems i have with other sites.
high rated
You have to be 18 or older because there are boobies in it. Lots of them, in all shapes and sizes, and several different colors (including some very unusual ones), too. If you're not 18 or older, boobies are not for you, and you should be amusing yourself with something more appropriate, like senseless violence.

If that makes sense to you, you should run for public office. If not, congratulations on being sane - and understand that one of the main costs of doing business anywhere in the civilized world is figuring out how best to maneuver a minefield of laws, both national and local, regulating everything you can possibly imagine, and that doing so cost-effectively often precludes having separate regional policies.
Yeah, its not THAT bad. And they can't be really afraid of me seeing boobs when they put boobs in the screenshot section that i can see. Also i have probably seen worse on NRK (Norwegian National Television). I am also reading the a song of ice and fire books. And if the a game of thrones series is anything like the book (no i haven't seen the series) that is at least as bad, also there is a lot of incest there. And they are sending it in prime time (sorta). I mean it's not like Jack Thompson is gonna go and check how old you have to be to buy games on gog.com...
Couldn't you have a parent or guardian use their card for you, or is it based on the age when you registered? Do your parents have a problem with you playing 18+ games?
Its based on the age when you registered, and i don'r really wnat to have two accounts.
Then why not register a new account, setting it up to show you is old enough, buy the game for gift and use the key with your original account? Of course, it might be illegal according to the TOS or EULA or OLDKW (other long, difficult key word).

Or you can ask one of your relatives to register a new account... You know, some older one...

Does that work if my account isn't old enough?

EDIT: It did!

This game also shows full frontal female nudity, so that may be why its rated 18+.

The funny part is that in most countries in the world, if you're 16 you can go around stripping down real women (with their consent obviously :P) and see real boobies and more whenever you like :D

In Scotland for a long time you could join the army, get married, have kids as soon as you hit 16... and still not be admitted to a theatre showing "adult" films with scenes of violence and sex.

I think the sex scenes are more likely what earns the 18 rating. Nudity itself is not that frowned upon in Europe.
I don't know if a film with that type of sex scenes would be an 18+ title though.
However I'd be very disappointed if CD Projekt attempted to soften up their games in order to access wider age audiences.
Ah just realised this is TW1 forum not 2, so no real sex scenes... at least nothing worth more than a PG. Only the nudity from the cards.

Yeah this game really isn't an 18. TW2 is though.

Plus there's lots of cursing and "alcohol and drug abuse". I think it's a combination of everything. The devs were going for a mature game so they used all the freedoms this gave them.

The funny thing is that the books are even more "obscene" and violent and nobody is keeping you from buying those as a teen (except for nuns protesting in the book store, maybe).
