I ran the systemrequirementslab thing and it says everything passes except my video card. But all my stuff specified is better than what it wants. Is it lying to me or will it really not work?

Video Card
Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or ATI Radeon 9800 or better
You Have: Intel(R) HD Graphics

Required You Have
Video RAM 128 MB 1.2 GB
3D Yes Yes
Hardware T&L Yes Yes
Pixel Shader version 2.0 4.0
Vertex Shader version 2.0 4.0

Short answer: No. Intel integrated graphics do not meet the game requirements.

Long answer: Systemrequirementslab actually got this one right. Your laptop does not met the requirements, because Intel drivers fake things like hardware T&L, and many games are not fooled and will crash.

Curses >:(!

Thanks!
The HD graphics chip in the Core series of processors isn't that bad, but you'll probably still have issues running the game smoothly with an acceptable level of detail.

Many Intel HD chips will not run the game at all. Some recent ones (esp. Sandy Bridge Core i5/i7) will run it, poorly, if you start witcher.exe with the "-dontForceMinReqs" switch. Expect low performance and artifacts.

I think you should be able to play it since it is intel hd. I played it on a recent laptop with intel hd and it worked fine on low settings and some parts even worked well on medium settings. The frame rate may drop a bit at points but the game is still definitely playable.

You can always try the demo as well, which made me realize I can play the game fine. =)

Also, btw I didn't have to bother with the whole not force minium requirements thing at all. Both the demo and the game simply worked for me.

EDIT: It seems only certrain intel hd works. BUT still may as well try the demo.

Since it depends on the specific Intel graphics processor, a blanket conclusion that the game should run on any Intel "HD" processor is going to mislead people and should not be drawn or go unrefuted.

Graphics processors from the G31 and G33 down will not run the game at all. Even with the switch trick. Graphics processors from the G41 up will usually play the game with the switch trick. They will probably exhibit poor performance and artifacts.

The new ones like the HD 2000 and HD 3000 in the Sandy Bridge series will play the game without tricks, if not so well as comparable nVidia or AMD chips. Those are the only Intel GPUs that will play the game satisfactorily.

The reported name seems consistent with a newer CPU-based HD graphics core. caitajk, what processor is your machine running?

Sorry, I thought all intel hd was like the 2000 and 3000 types. sorry to anyone who I may have mislead.

The "HD" mark was introduced with the Arrandale CPUs, the generation before the current one.

Nehalem (Arrandale) HD GPUs won't run the game without the "-dontForceMinReqs" switch.

Sandy Bridge HD GPUs are satisfactory for the game without trickery.

Yeah, hence me asking what specific processor the OP has.
Does anybody know if a GEFORCE 9300GE can handle this game ?
Thanks in advance.

A 9300 should be able to handle it, though not at high settings.
I was thinking about getting a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 with an i7-2620m, Intel HD 3000 Graphics, and 4GB Ram but after reading this thread I'm really scared.
Is it playable as in above 30fps and bugfree on low settings? Does somebody have experience with similar specs? Please help, thanks. :D

You should be fine. The Sandy Bridge "HD" GPUs can handle the game. The HD 3000 (which you have) is the better of these (desktop Core i3's have only the HD 2000).

That won't extend to TW2 or other new demanding games that come out; the HD's are hard pressed to meet the performance of low-end GPUs from nVidia or AMD.
