Alright, I own both the retail version (which I have previously installed (and modded to my tastes) but now cannot find the damned DVD for…) and the GOG version (which I haven't downloaded yet). Can anyone tell me what exact files I need to replace in my retail install to turn it into a GOG install or am I really going to have to waste hours on my slow connection on-top of needing to find some way to free up another ≅8.5GB for a game that I've already got all the assets for?

...never mind.

Found my own solution.

Additionally, I feel like a complete 'tard for having searched the forums and found nothing…only to realise nearly an hour later I had not searched the forums I'd searched GOG's catalogue. >_>

…since I found my own solution would it be unethical to select this post as the solution? :V

edit: Heh. Seems you can't do that. I guess it's up to the mods to mark this as solved then? Or I could just flag the first reply from someone other than myself that this topic gets as the solution…anyone want free rep?

I think almost all regulars have had this problem :)
i still do it sometimes after a hard days of work :p
thats hardly a solution but thanks anyway. \(^-^)/
I was wondering about the same thing - I just bought the GoG version today, and I already have the retail EE version (though not the "director's cut" - I'm assuming because my retail version is the PAL version).

That post you linked didn't seem to answer the question. It answered the question of whether we had to PURCHASE the GoG version again - but not if it is possible to CONVERT a retail version into a GoG version (with the GoG installer, etc). Now that I put it like that, it almost seems impossible, but any response regarding the matter would be great. :)

Thank you GoG and CDProject - you have my full support!

There is no provision to "convert" a retail purchase into a GOG-supported edition. You would have to rebuild the retail copy using the GOG installer. There's no way you can do that, because you don't have the files needed to build the installer.

I had thought as much. Thank you for clarifying.
