See, I can't even describe it accurately. Which really brings the problem home for me. I'm getting really frustrated with this puzzle because I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. Align the red lines into the three...holes or whatever? Highlight certain tiles as per the small pattern solution below it? I'm at the point where I'm just going to stop playing altogether and chalk this game up as a lost cause. There are two types of puzzle: One where you given a basic understanding of the puzzle's mechanics but leave you to work out the solution. And then the second where you have no clue how you're supposed to approach it because there's no visual clues or anything in the background to help you. So far, this game and the specific puzzle fall into the latter. Somebody help me out here. What am I supposed to be doing?

PS: Developers. Next time you put puzzles in a game, make sure we get a least a hint of how we're supposed to operate it instead of leaving everything so oblique and cryptic?
I am struggling to understand the very same puzzle. I also had trouble with some of the platforming earlier and am not really enjoying playing the game.

I really love the style and the idea but the puzzles just... ugh. And really, a pipe puzzle earlier?
Ah, and Simon Says now. How inventive.

At least with the pipe puzzle and Simon Says, you have a clear idea how it works. This puzzle, however, I have racked my brains to the point of aneurysm to figure it out. With nothing as simple as illustrative instructions or cues on how to operate it to guide me. There was a point when I was getting far but only because I was doing it BLIND!

I even tried looking at a video walkthrough only to see the user that posted had already found the solution to two of those puzzles. Wha-WHAT?!? You're not even going to show HOW you came up with them and WHEN it happened? Then he/she edits the video where to when they're on the last one. HUH?!?

Screw it...I'd rather play Shovel Knight compared to this.

Hear that, developers? When an 8-bit retro platformer is more accessible than your own game, you've got a problem.
I wish I was better at aiming and I had an idea which, either or whatever of the beams need to make the pattern. I assume that's what needs to be done.
Does one of the beams count or both? Or are they "on" all the time? I have no idea.
Actually, it has a simple solution. You must light with lazors ONLY the squares signed on the hint

I definitely agree on having some indication of where the reflection is going to go before I turn the shield on. Shooting blind adds a lot of frustration to a puzzle that shouldn't be this hard once you figure out what you need to do.

As far as which set of beams to use, it's whichever allows you to highlight the indicated squares.

Look at the environment and if one thing doesn't work, try another. I'm sure you'll eventually figure it out. And if you're really hitting a wall, just take a break and come back later. Things will eventually "click" and it's always more satisfying if you get there yourself without a hint.
