Hi guys. I'm hoping someone can help here - it would help immensely with my sanity ;)

I'm clearly missing something in getting the last part I need to finish the tower and call home...

I've gone through most of the game, returned to the comms tower which is now 94% complete, got the energy source etc, but I'm missing one piece. I can see where the blue throbbing circle indicates it should be on the Crossroads island (where the comms tower is located), but it looks like it's actually underground. Yet it's nowhere near any location I can find that goes underground (eg that secret room past the secret doors and the room where the cable runs down).

I've tried taking a screenshot (prtscrn, nVidia Shadowplay, but for some reason I can't get it to work).

The apparent location seems to be... From where the cable runs into a locked room, down hill, there are three stone discs/wheels, one with a blue flag, then some Solus wreckage - the blue throbber seems to be underground between the wreckage and the stone wheels?

If it helps, the game is patched to v1.01

I'd rather not cheat with console commands to get this, but if it's a bug....

Has anyone else had this problem? Or am I just being an idiot?

Cheers :)

You should really try to get a screenshot. Then people will be able to tell you in no time what to do, I'm sure!
I'm trying! If only GoG Galaxy had a screenshot facility...
Anyway, I'll update when I have something.

Cheers :)

Doesn't it have in-game screenshot capability? Screenshoting DX applications is a tough problem, only program I found that can do that reliably is Fraps. The free version only saves BMP, to convert it to a more sane format you have to use mspaint. It may help if you play in windowed mode, then simple PrintScreen should work - in theory.

As for the main problem... I think I found all tower parts at Crossroads, at least the message when trying to leave says so. I'll try to follow your description when I get some time - I vaguely remember the location you describe, and I think there were several tower parts lying there (and at least two wires to cut, and one medikit, cleverly hidden behind one of the standing wreckage pieces).

Edit: scratch that, that is not downhill from the cable building, it's uphill and to the side. I'll just have to open the game when I get home.

I think I found the place, but it's stretching it to call it "downhill from locked cable building". This one is downhill from the entrance to the temple on the top of the hill (maybe not temple, I just like to call it that to orient myself) - almost opposite side of the island. There is indeed one tower part lying on the ground, perfectly visible... I would go near the exit to another zone just to confirm that the missing part is in Crossroads and if the message says yes, you probably found a bug and are entitled to the console cheat.

And I was right on the screenshot part - printscreen works fine when in windowed mode (the screenshot has one millstone with flag clearly visible, another one is behind it, and I'm standing on the third one - the lowest of them)

Yeah, fair enough, I was a bit off track there, sorry...

I've installed Fraps :)

Screenshots incoming!

Cheers for the reply, incidentally :)

Screenshots (hopefully!)

I was close then, this is only little bit down, on the beach. I have game where I didn't pick up anything anywhere, just a quick dash to crossroads. The place you indicated has scuba mask and musicbox and few of the lesser goodies. No tower part. And not even the blue homing wisp that appears on your screenshot.

I'm not entirely sure but I think it sometimes appears for other targets, not only tower parts, so it may have been added by a quest progress or some unrelated glitch.

Did you try to go near a level transition point? The message should read "0 secrets and 1 tower parts remaining nearby" if the missing one is in Crossroads.
If you don't want to hunt around the levels for the last tower piece that your are missing, you can press F8 and type: solgive piece

This cheat gives you a tower part.
There's one tower piece underwater just off the beach near the location of your screenshots. It's hard to notice without the "homing signal". Did you pick it up?
Thanks for all your suggestions.

I did try the level transition for a sanity check and it did report 1 tower piece remaining - it actually did this from the first time I got to the end of the first time at Crossroads, but after an hour of hunting, I gave up thinking I'd get it later in the game.

Charon121 - that *might* be the solution, but tbh, I gave up and cheated with the solgive command - so many other games to play, so little time ;)

The head dev actually replied suggesting this and to send them my savegame on a steam thread I started as well, but haven't heard anything back about the save yet.

Anyway, thank you all for taking the time to assist :)
No problem. I feel as though this quest would have been much better with the addition of at least 2x more tower parts into the game world than you actually need, but without the homing signals. This would promote exploration and reduce frustration, since if you can't get the parts on one island, there are plenty more on the other.
Well, IMHO the visual help does provide an important gameplay factor that makes it difficult for me to disable.
It shows you which "messages" you already read. Since the deciphering speed is so annoyingly slow I really need this. :-)

Suggestion to the developers:Please make deciphering/displaying of known messages instant, or make this a separate option from the other visual help. Thanks, great game!

It is instant in explorer's diary. On my latest run, I just briefly pass crosshairs over the various texts to record them, then read everything at once when I think I have been everywhere (and then go back to find the missing texts, of course...). Not a direct answer to your problem, but maybe worth considering as an alternative.

This is good to know. It means that, for the purpose of achievements, you don't need to "decode" the entire tablet. Just initiating the decoding might be enough for the game to count the text as "read".

I know that but think that method is kind of damaging the immersion. ;-)
