InstantMuffin2: I'm not sure why a lobby replacement is needed to add features other than what it is said to do, I agree.
Most, if not all, just want to play the game alone and want simple fixes.
Integration of those fixes into the lobby ensures, that all users have the same fixes applied. Otherwise you get chaos with one player having fix 1 and 2 installed but the other one fix 2 and 3...
I don't see what this has to do with me and what I am trying to do.
If you want to ensure the same featureset across all players for your lobby system, that is up to your lobby system to do.
What I am trying to do is fix up the game, I'm not working on/for alobby.
So far there is no conflict and if there ever would be, again, version checking is up to the mp logic. I don't see any difficulties with checking for specific files being present and moving on from there.
My solution is standalone and does not, will not and should not depend on an installer and a bunch of other dependencies.

InstantMuffin2: Hey,

Sorry man, I only have the fourth and fifth installment of the series, and barely played the latter.
So for the forseeable future I can only account for settlers iv, but thanks for your interest in the 4th as well as the other games being adapted and fixed up as best as possible.
No problem, its nice that someone do fixes for the community, its a shame that the big companies dont do that.
Hey,

Personally, I don't have a problem with companies not fixing issues.
The problem I have is that the game is actively being advertised a refresh with compatibility and fixes. Errors caused by simple typos in config files have been in the game since forever and have at least been acknowledged to exist by ubisoft on the forums in August of last year. The consensus was that:
-Issues will be addressed
-There will be weekly updates

Unfortunately non of that is the case. If you post on the forums and ask about the status of things, what will happen is that some community manager will tell you that things are being taken care of and that there have been some delays due to the holidays.
This is complete and utter bullshit. None of the game's original mistakes have been fixed. Not even those caused by typos. It indisputably proves that there is ZERO effort on part of Ubi/BB to fix anything.
I would even understand that they don't want to invest money in this, however if people from the community who would love to fix things up for free (including myself) are simply being ignored...

Here are the changes the HE has:

-An autosave feature that overwrites itself
-The game can be started on Win10 which can already be done with dxwrapper
-Different resolutions (again nothing new)
-LAN features have been removed
-Multiplayer only works with uplay and there is no lobby system. You have to invite people explicitly
-Thanks to the game being tangled to uplay you have to be online to play the game, regardless if you intend to play online or singleplayer modes

Basically you have three features, one of which barely gives you an advantage in usability, the other two already existed, and then the game has more and more restrictions added to it which reduce the featureset as well as the compatibility (you can't play offline and guess what happens when uplay goes to shit - Settlers IV itself is older than Steam, the oldest platform for offline playability restrictions, do the math).

@adrianer:
I hope you don't misunderstand my previous posts. My solution is supposed to be standalone and lightweight. It will be configurable and its existence and status will be detectable by default.
