Was looking to jump into playing some settlers 3, the play button would grey out for a few seconds then not launch. went directly to the executable and attempted to launch via that but got the error of the _INMM.DLL file being missing. Anyone know if there's a work around or somewhere to get this particular file. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the file is still missing.
Same error here on Windows 11. Didn't find a solution so far :(
I have same problem. No solution so far.

same here. The support's reaction is highly frustrating, I might simply return the game if I don't get an answer within a week (they tell me in an automated response it might take several weeks!).

Try copying over winmm.dll from System32 to your S3 folder and renaming it to _inmm.dll

Unfortunately it doesn't work.

System32/winmm.dll -> ./_inmm.dll: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)
SysWOW64/winmm.dll -> ./_inmm.dll: Settler 3 seems to start with a black screen but then returns to desktop

I found a workaround: deinstalled the game. logged into gog on the gog.com site (not the app) and downloaded offline-settlers-version from there. Installed the game - it started. Next bug was asking me for the serial no, which is a known problem, applied the suggested solution from https: //support.gog.com/hc/de/articles/360008480314-Settlers-3-Ultimate-Collection-Die-Siedler-III-fragt-nach-Serien nummer-f%C3%BCr-den-Singleplayer?product=gog and now I can finally play. Not helping my disappointment in the steam-support, though....

I can confirm this.
The offline installer contains the required _inmm.dll. You could just move the _inmm.dll from the offline installer to 'GOG Galaxy\Games\Settlers 3 Ultimate' and it will run BUT sweet Jesus it's broken af!

Not only does the Galaxy version NOT run the ultimate edition but the base game v1.60 without additional missions and Amazons expansion. It also suffers from the serial key bug already mentioned and the white border bug, too. Furthermore videos are not showing due to missing codecs or something.

So just stick with the offline installer. It works like a charm, plays videos just fine and does not have the white border bug.
Also I did not had the serial key bug after running the game and starting a mission or campaign.

Windows 11.

Hi guys,

I was having the exact same problem on my desktop PC, your solution worked. Thx @Apfelbacke

A few additional notes from me:

1. No need to uninstall the Galaxy version, I just installed over it and it worked perfectly.
2. In the GoG Galaxy game tab for Settlers 3, you can go to "extras" and download the "offline installation files" from there. It accesses the same server file as the GoG homepage, so it should work the same.

@cmtjk: I am running the GoG Galaxy installation on my win 10 notebook, it should be the Ultimate edition of the game. Mine has both expansions selectable from the main menu.

The gog galaxy launcher is not working for me either, but the offline file works.

As for the serial key bug, the games download page on gog's website has a "more" option where you can view your serial key.

I encountered the "_INMM.DLL was not found" error and missing serial key error, after doing the offline install. The serial key displayed in the downloads section for the game on the Gog website came up as invalid when entered into the game.

I managed to get fix it by following these exact steps:

1. Installed the game from GoG Galaxy.
2. Downloaded Offine version of the game using the "extras" tab on the game in Gog Galaxy, and installed on top of the existing install (no uinstall was done first).
3. In GoG Galaxy app, under more options for the game, select Manual installation -> Verify / Repair. This patched the exe to have the correct licensce key.

I haven't yet tried doing step 2 first, followed by step 3, skipping step 1 all together. But that could potentially also work.

Thanks, your suggestion does work great! The offline installer includes the missing DLL, then repairing the installation seems to fix the CD key issue. Though I did the repair twice then I ran the regs.cmd file from the commandline just to be sure that the key was registered properly.

Agreed - had the same missing .dll file. Contacted GOG and got a response within 2 days, but none of the 11 tips provided resolved the problem - totally generic. It was only by trying to launch the game outside of GOG (by opening the folder) and getting the missing .dll error, then googling it and finding this thread, that I was able to resolve it. Everything works fine now (including the Play button in GOG).

THANK YOU!
