Am on level 3 of settlers 2 (10th Anniversary) having found this game as addictive now as many, many years ago!
Having created a Shipyard and a Harbour and made seven ships now, i prepare the exbedition but i cannot send my ships anywhere. From what i remember you click on one of the arrows on the outside of the compass but none of them i lit up!
Can anyone help please?

Click on the harbor building then click on the button that says Start Expedition. I think it is on the bottom right. You will have to wait a while before they finally get around to loading some wood and stone into a ship. The wait for them to load the ship could be a long time so as soon as the harbor is built click on the Start Expedition icon even if a ship hasn't been built yet.
When the supplies are finally loaded click on the Ship Register and locate the ship with the supplies. If the ship has the supplies you will see the arrow keys. Click on one of the arrows and you can't change direction again until the ship reaches shore. If you like the landing location then click on the anchor icon. The ships will automatically go back and forth between ports.
Don't build two or more ports on the same continent. I had the game slow down a lot when I tried this and the ships got confused. Also settle one island at a time because the ships seem to send nearly all the supplies to the most recently constructed port.

Hi, I have just downloaded Settlers for itouch and It seems to be stuck on Level 3 pioneers. Does anyone know how to get around it? Thanks

I am having the same problem in 2016. The ship is loaded up with the required building materials and still none of the arrows on the compass will light up. Someone suggested on another forum topic I wrote on that the reason this happens is that there are no other spaces on the map free where a harbour can be built but I struggle with that answer as I am not sure how I am to get to the next portal if I can't sail there??? If anyone can help or has a copy of the manual that goes with this game (gog don't supply you with one), I would be really grateful. Thanks

No available harbor spaces (i.e. all occupied by an AI) is indeed the most likely explanation for why the ship won't leave. Since you can't attack from the sea, there is nothing you can do about it. However, the portal is always reachable via land - it may take longer and you may not get to some extra resources but you can certainly continue with the mission and still successfully conclude it.

The manual is at the "Backups and Goodies" link of the game. If you use GOG Galaxy you can find it in the drop list for the game. as for the expedition ships it seems that Demokrit must be correct. The solution would be to rush build the harbor and shipyard before the other tribe gets a harbor. I havent tried it yet.
