It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Since installing the Win10 Creators Update, Heritage of Kings does not start anymore (no specific error message, just creates a .dmp, nothing else).
Same problem on two computers. Re-install does not help.
Anybody else who experienced the same problem?

In case you are an active player of this game, maybe you should wait with the update...

Maybe worth trying to copy an old direct3d dll into the game folder, on some other old game I had to do that to get it working again, and then it was the d3d9.dll.

I took that dll from w10.14393 and putted it in the game folder, and voila! it worked again.

don't know if HOK uses direct3d9, but trying won't hurt I guess.

seems MS has changed something in that file that broke compatibility :(

edit: ah, no tried it, but that wasn't it...

@DarkjeThe2nd: Thanks for the advice! However, as you have already pointed out, this was not the solution. I tried some other dlls, based on comparison between the 'old' Win10 and the Creators Update version. No success so far...

In any case it seems that at least you could confirm the issue, so it is clearly a generic issue with the new version and not just an issue with my installations.

one solution seems to be to replace the SettlersHoK.exe with the following version:
workupload.com/file/VwbhS5Z

More information is given in the following forum (in German):
www.siedler-maps.de/forum.php?action=showthread&postid=146145#posting146145

The origin of the problem is described there as:
"In the SysWOW64 DLLs of Win10CU the TimeDateStamp in the NtHeader is invalid and S5 can not deal with this."

This works for me as a temporary solution (in the hope that there will be an update from GOG to fix this officially).
ahh good find! let's hope gog comes up with an official fix.

Thanks, this worked, though I did buy the game on gog, so I wouldn't have to find work arounds.
Anyway, thanks again.
