I also tried to do everything, online searches, wrappers, dxgl, etc., etc., but it was of no use. Is it possible to have some information and / or attempt about it? Is it possible to have the dxwrapper.ini file that is fine for the game? Thanks

Hey all,

i tried around with the Fix from eriedlinger but I always get the same Issues:

First missing the atiumdag.dll error about 3 Times.

But If I look in the folder mentioned by the Error there is the file atiumdag.dll.

And after that I get the typical 'Software 3D: Error' and 'Hardware 3D: Error' message.

I would be grateful for every help

I have installed the current version of Siedler / The Settlers 4 Gold Edition (offline version).
my computer is running win10 64bit version. Resolution: 1920x1080
an error message appears when starting the game:
"the settlers IV: S4_Main.exe - Einsprungpunkt nicht gefunden
Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt "MiniDumpWriteDump" wurde in der DLL "C: \ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ FileRepository \ u346830.inf_amd64_35731e557194973d \ B345901 \ atiumdag.dll" nicht gefunden.

"the settlers IV: S4_Main.exe - entry point not found
The procedure entry point "MiniDumpWriteDump" was not found in the DLL "C: \ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ FileRepository \ u346830.inf_amd64_35731e557194973d \ B345901 \ atiumdag.dll"

By using "DXGL-0.5.18-win32" the game started, but showed a black screen instead of the intro videos.
Does anyone know the problem and can help here? The GOG support is very busy at the moment and i don't know if or when i can get help from them

Try dgVoodoo 2 instead of DXGL. My experience with it has been a lot better:

Basically, change 4 bytes in the S4_main.exe to improve sound quality for free.

If anyone else experiences blue panels over their minimap and some of the other UI elements using the Settlers IV WIndows 10 patch from Elisha Riedlinger the necessary steps to correct this are as follows:
-Open up dxwrapper.ini with notepad or editor of your choice
-Change the line "Dd7to9" under Compatibility to 1

This will also force the game to run software render but at least you can see the minimap.

I tried all other patches mentioned. Couldn't actually get a copy of DXDG to try either, the website is down it seems.
dgVoodoo is working perfectly for me (after playing with the settings a little)

This game is really a pain. Purchased it ages ago and today felt that nostalgia need to play it.....

Unfortunately it just does not start.. I tried all(or so I hope) fixes offered in this topic with no luck ;/

I just booted up Settler 4 and played a misson(lost of course) just fine on the latest version of Windows 64.
I'm not sure what could cause the issue for you. Describe the system you are using?

Hi, I try and download dgVoodoo2, and follow the instructions and yet there is no change. The game don't launch and give the same error.

Is there some specific settings to make it right?

What we need is for GOG to fix it's game that it s sold as working on Windows 10 on the main Store Page. This is not acceptable at all, imagine buying a brand new car and you trying to make it work since day one of the purchase.

Hi all,

I got it working on my Intel internal graphics on Windows 10, using the instructions from Aliestor on Youtube:
"How to play The Settlers 4 on Windows 10 in Full HD"

I start the DxWnd and let it running by choosing File / Move to Tray.
And I use the Widescreen tool on 1366x768 (in stead of FHD), so you can still read the text.

PS: You need to use the same version of DxWnd he used.

I had the bug with the MiniDumpWriteDump not found as well.

The bug seems to be an AMD specific error, and can be circumvented by renaming DbgHelp.dll to DbgHelp_old.dll in the exe folder. The games runs fine for me then (with eriedlingers fix and FireEmerald's Widescreen Tool)

Hope this helps some people to enjoy the game :)

Tried everything and no go till I manually added the files supplied by dgVoodoo to the main settlers game folder containing the s4.exe the files I seemed to need were in the ms folder/x86 the folder contains 4 .dll files.

for me this fixed the game does not start 3d hardware error.
Game seem to run fine now, gog should have a class action legal fight on there hands for selling a game they clearly know does not work as is.

btw I am running windows 11
