Hey there.

I can't seem to get the game to launch at all, which is a first for me when it comes to gog.com games.

When I try to launch the game, nothing happens. No error messages, either.
I've tried it from the desktop and from Galaxy.

Running W10 on a 6800K CPU w/ GTX 1080.
The game will not function if you have more than 4 cores on your cpu pretty much.
I got the same problem. Doesn't start at all and i got 6 cores.

If having more than 4 cores is really the culprit here, disabling an appropriate number of cores in bios should act as a workaround. I had the exact same problem in Risen 3 (before patches). But i'm too drunk to fiddle around in my bios right now to confirm this.

That seems like something that maybe should be listed on the store page?

I got this issue too. The game did not launch. On Windows 10 x64, with an Intel i7 5930k.
Setting the BIOS to use 4 cores instead of 6 fixed this.

Spidey1976 in this thread confirms this too (see last post) although not for the GOG version:

I'm getting the exact same problem. Hit the green play button and nothing happens.

Geforce GTX 980 TI x 2 (Sli)
Intel Core I7 3930K @ 3.20GHZ
16 gig ram

No one knows of any other way to get the game running? I really dont want to be messing in my bios each time I want to play the game.
Same problem here.
Windows 10, 5820K, SLI 980
Thank you guys for the input. I'll be patient and see if the gog team addresses this issue or possibly releases a fix.

Just out of curiosity. Did you submit a ticket to GOG support about this?
I did not, on account of being stupid. :D
Thank you for pointing this out, will create a ticket rightaway.
I did submit a ticket with them about this issue btw as well. Hopefully, they'll be some sort of resolution, just have to give them a bit of time.

I too have gotten it working by doing this, but restarting my system every time I begin and finish this game is a little too much to ask.

Bonus issue: The Xbox one controller does not seem to work correctly with this game when played on Windows 10.

Triggers also rotate the camera? Either unplug the receiver, start the game, plug the receiver or edit the configuration file to remove the "Other Gamepad" section. Tell me if you want me to dig up the post about the configuration file.
I think it has become obvious that it doesn't work with more than 4 cores, meaning we need a workaround that doesn't involve disabling cores in the BIOS.
I can confirm that this is an issue with the Origin version of the game as well (which is the version I own). My CPU, the i7 5820K, doesn't want to play nice with the game, even with affinity set.
