I have a RTX2080Super GPU and I thought this game is supporting Raytracing. There is even a system requirement chart which has the RT mentioned. Thing is. There is no option for RT in the game. Maybe it's me, but I couldn't find any ...
Same. I have a 2060 Super and there's no RT toggle where it should be.

* Just noticed the game is running in DX11. That would be why. It seems to be missing the DX12 exe.

No it's not missing. You have to start the DX12 version seperatly via GOG Galaxy. Just click on "configure" ...
If you don't use Galaxy simply add this start command to your keyboard shortcut;
-dx12

Note a space before dash is required, I did put it in but forum removes leading spaces.
This is added to the path to the actual executable, Not the stub launcher in main folder.

"<Path To Your Game>\Medium\Binaries\Win64\Medium-Win64-Shipping.exe" -dx12

Meh, even with a RTX3080 and a Ryzen 3900X there are some bad frame rate drops all the time when RTX is enabled (ultra or normal, no matter).

So I went back to play without RTX, but kept DX12 enabled. There are less framerate drops then, but it still doesn't run as smooth as it does without DX12.

I hope they will work on that now after the release.

I don't have an RTX capable card, but I noticed when recording part 2 yesterday that I got dips down to the low 30's on Default graphics settings. Kind of unimpressed with that, if I'm being honest. My card is a 5700 XT and I am running the game at 1080p with a Ryzen 3600 chip and a hybrid sshd drive.

I get that optimization should improve, but it shouldn't be THIS bad on default imo.
If it was when it switched to two screen mode, it's inevitable
Old school split screen multiplayer, where rendering the same data twice has no added performance impact.

This is more like rendering two different games, with different assets, character models, and post processing requirements.
no matter how optimised FPS drops are inevitable, which is why they prioritise a smooth 30 FPS.

A smooth frame rate, is far better than average FPS that varies wildly.
I think that needs more work, now they have more data to work with, but regardless of that you should not expect to get single screen FPS, in 2 screen modes..

You should expect to get 2 screen mode FPS in single screen, and lock your FPS to that lower rate if the sudden changes bug you too much.
It wasn't from dual screen. It just randomly hit 32-37 fps at different times of playing through the part where you first come into the Niwa area.

I can deal with it, it's just annoying because my youtube playthrough looks crappy with the sudden frame fluctuations, but I'm a nobody on YT anyway so it's all good.

Thanks very much for posting this! I was wondering why it showed DLSS in the menu but no RTX, and it played in DX11.

That is sot of dual screen, as well, in that it flashes the full screen image between the real, and spirit worlds, so is still taking the same sort of two game rendering hit to the FPS.

My advice is this slow paced game is better played at a steady locked 30 FPS, if you can't maintain a steady locked 60 FPS.
Recording the games, via OBS, capture card etc. is going to impact performance as well, unless you have a 2nd PC for that.
I had the framerate drops completely random, the first one while running around the pool area. But then I didn't have RTX and DX12 enabled.
WIth those two active it became very bad in the woods against the finale (when you meet the dog), but there were also drops inside the bunker - all without Split Screen/Personality or even changing screen, it happened completely random while running around.
With my hardware this really should not happen in 1080p.

Thanks for the heads up. I might try to record with it locked to 30 fps and see how it goes. When I met Sadness the fps dropped down to 11.

With a 3090 at 4K / DLSS Low / RT Ultra I get massive drops in some scenes, like 80 to 7fps.
And I think DLSS Low renders at 1080p too.

It's my first RT game and I hope it's not as bad on other titles ^^

NO, Control runs stable, I still have to test Observer and Metro.
