When hovering over objects or persons I can interact with the blue arrow cursor lights up and the objects/persons name is displayed.
But when I click 90% of the time nothing happens.
I have to click several times to find the correct spot to show the popup that shows the possible actions, like look at, talk to or take.

Is there any way to fix this?

I'm not familiar with the problem you described, but, if you are playing the game on modern hardware and OS, I strongly suggest you to use ScummVM.
