Since the new patch for SC released today, I can't even start the game anymore. The config window simply isn't displayed. I can see the process "Config2.exe" being active three times, but that's all. Even killing that process doesn't seem to work. This is from within the GOG Galaxy client.

I'm having the same problem. Win 10. I just bought it and I can't launch the game or the config.
Yup, tried to launch it outside the Galaxy client. Neither the config2.exe nor ed6_win2.exe work. Process starts (multiple times!), but nothing shows. I can only kill the process by rebooting the system.
I'm on Windows 7, so it's not a W10 specific problem.
Same exact issue. I am very sad right now.
Hi,

I patched the game today and it doesn't start for me either.
I tried running both .exes as administrator and launching the game from withing the galaxy. I triend re-installing galaxy client but it didn't help either.
At the moment I'm re-downloading the game, I'll post and update when it's done.

Anyone had any luck with this problem yet?
I already tried rolling back to the previous patch and reinstalling the game. Neither worked for me.
Same here. So reinstalling doesn't work? I won't bother with it in that case.
I got it to work guys.

I uninstalled the game, then rebooted.

I downloaded again using the Galaxy, then rebooted. It works fine now and the opening FMVs (Falcom logo at the start), which were bugged before, play properly now.

Aha! Gog support sent me a list of things to try and the very first one was the ticket. Close galaxy, then reopen it as administrator. Then launch the game. That did it for me!
After uninstalling and reinstalling the game, twice, I was able to get it to work again.

This worked for me. It's easy enough as a workaround, but I hope this problem gets fixed with the next patch nevertheless.

Anyway, I guess I can mark this thread as "solved" then.
I can confirm that running the executable as the administrator works without Galaxy installed as well.
That doesn't work for me. :( It closes after the first video, just after "Now Loading", even with both the config and game apps set to run as administrator...

Did not work for me. I will try to instal it again later :(

I have Windows 10, maybe this solution doesn't work on older systems.
