Not just 1... SC and 3rd got updates on December 8, too.
All that I've found about the update, according to some users on the Steam forums, is:
- Breaks the voice mod. Update here: https://github.com/ZhenjianYang/SoraVoice/releases
- Fixes the Alt+Tab crashes in DX9 fullscreen mode [unconfirmed]

Well it breaks voice mod if you launch the game through galaxy (games crashs quickly), but at least it works with the .exe
Only thing you may miss are the achievements since they're tied to galaxy.
