Hi, I've just bought this game to enjoy some nostalgia but I can't get it to work properly.
At first I had some problems with game not starting at all (Direct3D initialization error) but some tinkering with resolution in registry helped.

Right now however I'm in a weird spot where game runs flawlessly in MainMenu, I can change various settings in options and even choose a dragon while starting the campaign. All in glorious 60FPS.

But as soon as the gameplay starts my FPS drops to 1. Literally 1 frame per second like a slideshow.
I've tried everything I could think of and what I've seen discussed online:
- Vsync,
- various compatibility modes,
- capping FPS using third-party software as well as NVidia Control Panel and registry setting for the game,
- tinkering with other settings present in the registry like MultiSampling / TripleBuffer / CloudsQuality and so on,
- running as administrator,
- fullscreen / windowed,
- alt+tabbing,
- setting affinity for only 1 core.

Nothing helped.
I'm not sure if it's my setup's fault as some players on Steam experience similar issues

My setup:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1280P
Windows 11

I have the same issue and similar setup. went through all of the same troubleshooting steps plus tried to make it to choose nvidia card on launch - doesn't seem like it worked. The game keeps launching on the integrated card.
Try previous versions, using Galaxy rollback. Mainy the last version before the most recent updates.

Thank you! rolling to 1.01 hotfix helped!

Yeah, they definitely changed something regarding graphics. The 1.01 hotfix can also be minimized without issues while it's a lot more choppy in the recent patches.

I played and finished the game without any issues on the 1.01 hotfix. The AMD RDNA fix one should also be fine, it's just a fix for some AMD hardware. But from 1.01(a), some things did get screwy. The newer patches have also replaced the original soundtrack.
