Because I really want to know how many people me and Judas brainwashed exactly.
Yep.
It certainly worked for me. I was interested by the description, but the overwhelmingly positive response you, and most of the others on this subforum, had convinced me.
Yup, thanks to you guys.
Thanks, I enjoy the game a lot :)

I read about it on Home of The Underdogs (http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/) years ago and it really peaked my interest. I was lucky enough to find a copy at my local EB Games.
Edit: My copy is actually called Europa 1400 Gold. It looks exactly as pictured on the HOTU site: http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/game.php?id=5170

That's cool! Nice find!
Also, the original title of the game is Europa 1400. I'm not actually really sure why GOG rebranded it to The Guild.

"The Guild" was the game's original subtitle, IIRC (the full title was "Europa 1400: The Guild"). Not sure why they omitted the first part; maybe that's just how the "Gold" version is.
I'm picking this game up because I read a single-screenshot review on it years ago in PC Gamer, and somehow the game stuck in my head because of how unique it seemed. Recently I sought it out on a whim, and found it here. I wasn't ready to plunk down $10 for some reason, but now that it's on sale... ;)
I'm looking forward to playing it, since I'm a fan of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games and this game appears to have some similar elements (free choice, historical background, micromanaging, being a jerk, etc).
Because I wish to be organizationally inclined enough to play these games, and I like history (bought Patrician as well) The reality being I am so terrible at these, I barely figure out how to play them, comparable to a doggy paddle but nonetheless I try to curb my attention deficit disorder with this style of game. I need a coach, lol.
I found this game a couple of years ago in a shop, hidden behind tons of other games, but I was immediately interested. I've been playing this game on and off for the past 4 years now and it still doesn't bore me. I don't have the expansion pack, however (shame on me). Maybe I'll buy the whole here on GOG (just found out about this site!).
I've also tried the sequel, The Guild 2, but I deinstalled it after 10 minutes, didn't like it at all.
Joe was a pain in the ass and wouldn't stop telling me to buy it. I'm currently wading through the tutorials.

("YES" YESSSSSSSSSS" "CONGRATULATION")

It looked fun (though is a bit different from my expectations...) and it was this or Guild 2.

This was cheaper, and plus GOG rocks.
