I've gotten off to a nice start in Paris, but the trader profession seems to have a bug. At the entrances/exits to the town, on the town map, the foreign cities are all Paris... the very city I am already in. I have first hand experience with some self-absorbed Parisians, but this is ridiculous! In addition, the map in the storage building shows that I can trade with London, Madrid, and Milan with those red markers, but when I clock on the marker, no window pops up with the market price of goods in those cities.
My first game in Berlin had no problems with trading (that's how I know how it should work). In fact, I made such a killing with the profession that I started a new game (as above in Paris) with a greater difficulty level.
Any ideas about this issue? Bug? Game Setting? Parisians?
Thanks.

Well I checked it and indeed there is a bug that seems to emerge sometimes while playing with historical background. I am sorry but we can't repair it - we do not have access to the source cod and this is a in-game issue. We will contact the right people about it.

I reached level 6 publican and wanted to branch out....
I was always annoyed at barley prices and how it was never there when I needed it for materials urgently in the market so I branched out to get ranks in Trading and bought a store to trade with....
My game (given it is the first time I have played this) is London/Very Easy and it's a historical game.
All the towns outside mine on the map show London and travelling to them only shows a very limited selection to buy in (no grain which is what I was after and only 1 each fo wood, slate and gems).
I eventually sold my storage shed off and that little side venture cost my family around 8000 gold and a lot of AP :/
Is this likely the same issue?
If you would like my save game I'm happy to supply it....
I'm only 2nd generation in and made some huge mistakes anyway first time round so might just restart a nonhistorical game anyway ;)
Damn, what a pity. I started as a Blacksmith and wanted to switch to Trader when I had enough money, but foolish as I was, I chose to play with history. Will have to start a new game then.
I have the same issue, but am playing without history. I'm in London, and all the cities to trade with are London.
I have the issue to and I'm also playing without historical events on. :(
