I bought this game earlier today, downloaded, and installed, and everything was running fine. I played a 'free game' as a thief/robber, and after mastering thief completely, and going to robber, the game blanked, and Vista shut it down, but didn't give me an error message. I don't know if there are dumps when errors occur, but has anyone had this crash?
It's crashes like this that remind me that saving your game is a necessity :(
This question / problem has been solved by DrIstvaanimage
Have you tried to do so a second time? This game seems to have some weird affection to completely random crashes (I myself have had my fair share of them), but if you load up your game and reach that certain point again, it won't crash. According to my experiences, it works 100% of the cases.
Oh, and, if you haven't noticed yet, the game makes an autosave at 6:00 every turn (it's the topmost save).

Oh, thanks. Yeah, I noticed it, and forgot i made this post. Another annoying bug is the give up in combat not working, and noone attacks and it just sits there until the bar goes out. Regardless, great game. :P
Glad it's working for you!
Indeed, The Guild has its fair number of bugs... but is still worth to play it.
that doesnt solve anything ,all the games gog sells ae not vista compatible its false marketing, all xp games crash on vista regardless of compatability mode
I have 97 gog games, includind this one, and they all work perfectly on Win7 64 bit so there goes your little theorie.
Naturally if the game has random crashes tied to the game code then there's not much anybody can do about that, not even gog can fix those, and the game will have random crashes regardless of OS.
Maybe instead of posting what you posted you could actually ask for some help in dealing with whatever problems you're having. You'll find lots of people wiiling to help around here.

I am using XP and my games will always crash at some point and I can't get them past that point. This happens on two different computers with the same saved game. I started saving the game in three slots--one every two years and even when I go way back it still crashes at the same point. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have the same problem every time I play the Nuremburgh map.

On other maps, the reload tactic works but not for Nuremburgh.
My Crashing problems persists and haven't received a reply from tech support. Anyone here have any ideas?

Thanks!
In Nuernberg I had that problem. My Clock stops always at 14:12. I was try a lots of things to solve that. So I found out that the Abbey on the West side near by the Bard/Poet stand is buggy. So I tore it down and now it works fine.
