So I'm into the second generation of my dynasty and run a thriving business, and the game crashes at the end of my current turn every single time. The turn ends, I go through two voting screens, and then it crashes right before the new turn starts. The game hasn't crashed before.

I tried running in compatibility mode, the TnL mode, and also wishing very hard that it wouldn't crash. Still crashes.

Is there anything to be done or is my save screwed permanently? I love the gameplay so much, it would be a shame if it were so.

I've tried reloading my autosave at the beginning of the turn and going through the turn barely doing anything. Still crashes. I also tried resigning from office as Customs Master (because it always crashed at the vote for Judge), but it still crashes.

If you have a ready heir, you could try killing off your character. Go to your Study and then click on the window to jump out and die.

Not pretty and certainly not a "fix," but it may work.

Clever!

Just tried it, but it still crashed at the end of the turn.

Thanks for trying to help.
From what you describe you MAY have a corrupted save. Do you have any manual saves around that time? Try loading one of those instead and see if the game still crashes.

Unfortunately, I don't. I decided to switch to The Guild 2: Renaissance on Steam. It seems to be less buggy. I'll come back to The Guild Gold when I feel like playing it again. Of course, I'll make sure to maintain five different saves, one for each season, as this seems to be one of the buggiest games I've played that has "Gold" in the title. I would hate to play the retail version.

This game was buggy when it was still sold on store shelves. It's not GOG's fault in this matter.

I personally never had corrupted saves but the game did crash on me, thankfuly, it autosaves at just about every move so you are sure not to lose your game entirely.
Oh, of course, I'm not blaming GOG. It's just the nature of any complex piece of software to have its share of bugs; it's unavoidable.

Glad that you've had good experiences with it. It's a fun game.
