So I run Windows 7 64bit, have 16GB of RAM 3TB of HDD and a GTX1080 Ti. I use two screens, one a TV at 4K and one a monitor at 1920*1080. The issue is the game seems to only open on my smaller monitor (even though my 4K TV is set as main display) and it seems to try and use my in-build intel graphics and not my GTX, even when I force it through NVIDIA control panel.

Whatever the option, when I launch the game, it opens in screen 2, flicks on and off, becomes really low resolution (even for the small screen), goes fuzzy/blurry and sometimes it fixes the resolution, sometimes not, but when it would (i assume) finish loading the TITLE SCREEN it just closes. No crash notifications or anything, it just turns off.

Anyone know what the heck is going on?

Hi Zozyman!

There are still problems with connecting the game to external TV sets. In the next version we will offer a first fix for that, which will fix some of these issues.

In the meantime could you try the following?

1. Can you search and then delete the options.cfg and options_default.cfg files?
To go there just type in Windows 10 in Explorer address bar:

shell:Local Appdata\Guild3
(this will lead you to your game directory which is located in your user directory)

After that please try to start the game again. The game will make brand new options files on the next start.

2. Could you attach us a directx file of your system? Either here or through our bug tracker redmine?
https://redmine.thqnordic.com/projects/the-guild-3-early-access

In redmine you need to click on the small plus icon in the upper left corner to file a ticket.

Thanks for your help!
Unfortunatly that did not work, still flickers both screens, changes to low resolution and closes the game after a few seconds in the loading screen for the menu (right after the logo videos and the game intro video). I'll edit this post/post the directx thing in a moment. Though I should reiterate that I use windows 7, not windows 10.

Sorry to hear that the problem still occurs and thanks for the additional information.

Have you tried making the 2k monitor your primary display device and starting the game afterwards (and changing the display ingame in the options)I? In case this does not work have you tried to detach the 4k monitor and then start the game.

We made a short checklist of possible things you can try. Hope this helps you (you can skip step 4 which you tried already).

Step 1: Install patch 0.9.7.2
Make sure that you have at least patch 0.9.7.2 of the Guild 3 installed. This patch features an important fix for many graphics cards.

Step 2: Check the minimum resolution
Make sure that your system supports the minimum required resolution.
When the resolution is below 1280x720 on older graphics cards or onboard graphics cards the game will display a "graphics subsystem" error message.
In these cases make sure to update the graphics cards drivers. In addition, please set the resolution in the Windows display settings to a minimum of 1280x720 before starting the game.

Step 3: Missing or defect drivers
The game requires the following redistributables/DirectX runtime:
DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
Visual C++ Redist 2012
Visual C++ Redist 2013
Visual C++ Redist 2015

When deleting and reinstalling the game through Steam/GOG these listed packages should be reinstalled automatically.
To exclude the possibility of wrong config files please type into the Windows Explorer address bar:

shell:Local Appdata\Guild3

Please delete the entire Guild3 folder. The Guild3 folder will be rebuilt on the next game start.

Step 4: Resetting the options
Detach external monitors so that only one monitor is connected. Then type on Windows level in the Explorer address bar:

shell:Local Appdata\Guild3

This will lead you to your game directory which is located in your user directory. Delete the options.cfg and options_default.cfg files.
After that please try to start the game again. The game will make brand new options files on the next start.

Step 5a: NVIDIA graphics cards
If you right click on the desktop in the context menu there should be an entry like "NVIDIA Control Panel”. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and go to "Manage 3D settings". Then choose the tab "Program Settings". Create a new entry for Guild 3 and choose the NVIDIA graphics card as the “preferred graphics processor” for the game.
In some cases outdated settings might cause problems with displaying the game. In these cases, please right click on your Windows desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel. Click “Manage 3D Settings” and there in the upper-right corner click “Restore Defaults”.

Step 5b: Radeon graphics cards
In some cases outdated settings might cause problems with displaying the game or the game might crash on startup. In these cases it might be necessary to reset the settings for the game in the “Radeon Software”. If you right click on the Windows desktop in the context menu there should be an entry like "AMD Radeon Settings” or “Radeon Software”. Open the program, go to “Settings” and choose “Reset to Default Settings”.

Step 6: Report a ticket to Redmine
In case the steps didn’t help you to solve the problem, please report a ticket in Redmine:

https://redmine.thqnordic.com/projects/the-guild-3-early-access

To open a ticket click on the "+" symbol on the upper left side and click on "new issue". Add a short description of the problem.
Please let us know what exactly happens e.g.:
- The game does not even start, “Play” button on Steam turns green again after a few seconds – there is no feedback at all.
- The game starts, the screen turns black and then the game crashes.
- The game displays the intro videos and then it crashes on the loading screen.

Please send us your system hardware information:
To do so type into the Windows Search “dxdiag” and start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Click on “Save All Information” and attach the DXDiag.txt file to the Redmine ticket.
Please send us a crash log (in case it is available).
The path should be – depending on your setup – similar to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Guild 3\Crashes

Thanks a lot for your help!
