What a waste this game is and what a waste of money buying it.

You cannot control, the overly loud music that is nothing short of annoying.
You cannot use a mouse and keyboard to control your character.
You are left to try to use the key board to shoot at 45 degree angles (not easily possible).

This game may be released in 2013 but it leaves a LOT to be desired.

If it were $.50 cents it would be too costly.

I just wasted $2.49 on a game that is unplayable on the keyboard and mouse for pace of the game.

Save your money, move along, and hopefully gog will be more up front with customers that a gamepad is really not optional but required.

For a person like myself that does not own a console I feel some ripped off by this game on gog. Of course the money back guarantee does not apply to games downloaded and installed. It may run but it is not truly playable with only a keyboard and mouse.

Hi,

You are exaggerating ever so slightly. It is a remake / conversion of a game from the 1990s. A good gamepad is a must! Apart from that, the game is already as tough as it gets even if you are playing with a good gamepad.

Cheers
I can only get a joypad working using JoyToKey, when integrating should be part of the software as it was when I played it on the godddamned Amiga in the early nineties. The dearth of features for this conversion is outright shocking.

Chaos Engine was one of the Bitmap Brothers finest achievements, and a jewel in their crown alongside Sensible Soccer, Magic Pockets and Speed Ball 2, but this release is an absolute disgrace upon the legacy of that studio and the fine folk that created it's progeny.

Every person involved in this project should be ashamed of themselves. The only people who will pick up this release will be those who loved the original release, and they are the ones who will be the most hurt by it's inadaquacy. I hope to god that even one of those bastards sees this post so that they can realise how much I hope that they tread on a Lego.

Hi,

The gamepad should work because it is a Windows game using the Windows joystick / gamepad stuff.

Cheers

Your words are pretty harsh and childish.

Me and my 8 year old son were just playing the game perfectly with 2 xbox 360 controllers. No extra calibration needed.

Worked with wireless controllers and the one wired one we have.

My only complaint is that the game is hard as hell, and I couldnt find any cheats or trainers to help us keep going.

Yes. Definitely this. Jewel of a game, but bloody hard.
Just won the game playing with the keyboard only, it's doable (1 player & CPU, cheap keyboard, using arrow keys for moving with the right hand, C for shooting with the left index finger, special with the ring finger, you can set the joystick bindings in the options according to your taste).

They didn't make SS! Sensible did!
