BurntSoul: Well, what about the devs of this game adding LAN co-op play at least? Assuming the same product after viewing the specs from Steam (the game is named the same), I bought it a few days ago on GOG (along with Speedball HD). Sure - Steam is not your site, but why two different flavors of the same Re-mastered edition of this game?

I don't blame you guys, but now I feel kind of burned because once bought I immediately downloaded all content and installed the game (which invalidates the refund).
I guess it's because the devs decided to use the Steam features for multiplayer instead of either making their own or using an open source solution like RakNet (this is what the new Rise of the Triad uses).

patricklibuda: Hi,

On a computer with the PCI version of the Soundblaster X-Fi (I still love the card :-)) the digital sound stuff mutes after a couple of minutes (sometimes it is only a couple of seconds...). The computer is an older core 2 duo (2.53 GHz) - happened both with WinXP as well as now Win7 32bit. On my proper computer i7-3770 (Win 8.1 Pro 64bit) it appears to work fine (X-Fi Titanium PCI Express).

Cheers
Patrick
I am not really sure what's going on with what you described. Can you get updated drivers for that card or has Creative dropped any and all support for that card already?

patricklibuda: Hi,

Thanks for the reply :-). PCI soundcards can be tricky because more recent chipsets treat PCI as a bit of a stepchild - the newer the chipset the more tricky things tend to get. One phenomenon for example is erratic audio channel jumping - e.g. sound jumping from the left to the right or front to rear (independent of the type of application (e.g. media file, game, etc.)). This does not happen with the PCI Express version of the X-Fi.

However, Chaos Engine Remastered is the only game I have where digital sound effect stuff stops playing altogether (until reloading the programme) - mind you, the music continues to play.

Cheers
I am not an expert on these matters but I presume that The Chaos Engine is not using the driver for your PCI (not PCI Express) card correctly or there are some severe compatibility issues between the game and the card since, again, it would appear to be using older drivers :) Of course, i am simply theorizing since I don't have your setup directly in front of me :) I am surprised that PCI is still somewhat usable these days, to be honest :)
