I hope they update the game to the latest version. Honestly disappointing they didn't make sure it worked beforehand.

I think I have a solution. I took the script files that were missing and packed them into this zip file:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/bc99yi3gz5k9qtr/scripts.zip/file
Extract this folder into your install directory/resources folder, so that you have a scripts sub-folder with the lua files in that directory. When you start the game, make sure mods are enabled, then close the program and restart (or else it will crash during play), or enable modding by editing the options.ini file. I've tested this and it works with a few mods, let me know if you have any problems.

This almost works but I'm trying to use the "Item descriptions" mod and no matter what combination of enabling mods and restarting, it either doesn't work until I recheck the mod then start a new game, at which point the game will crash if I pause or it just doesn't work when I enable mods, close out, restart the game and start a new game. I've tried messing with the options and config files to no avail.

I followed your steps, the game doesn't crash anymore, but the mods still do not work.
I took this picture from the console. I have no idea what those errors means.

Can't believe they just released it and haven't updated it in over 3 months to the latest version. Why do GOG releases always get scraps.
I've got that error after putting scripts folder into resorces, any idea how to fix it?

In last version. Mods works fine.
For me at least.
