Hi there.

I'm trying to test the game to work on Windows 10. Unfortunately after the Access intro movie the game crashes as "OVERSEER.EXE has stopped working". Maybe the recent updates made the game crashed. I really wish there was an program when you can run programs using older version of this OS and drivers.

Turning off the DEP of this game improves a bit. But It still crashing.

I also turned off anti-virus stuff.

I also tried to run compatibility mode on various versions but still having no luck.

Tried using dgVoodoo2 (Tried the latest version) but I still having no luck.

I have DxWnd. I really wish I know the tweaks for this game to work.

I also use fixes from pcgamingwiki.com. Still no luck getting this thing to work.

Is there still hope for this game to work with recent version of Windows 10 and graphic drivers? Or do I have to rollback the OS or drivers to make this to work?

Specs here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14MT3zf9wRPuDHjzDDtMrdI4WAoJlmVyP/view?usp=sharing

UPDATE: Looks like I missed the step from dgVoodoo2. I put the MS to the installation folder, which seems it doesn't seem to work. Instead I put the files from here to the installation folder. Now It worked fine for now.

It's now fine. But sometimes the mpeg2 video won't start and I have to log out in order to close the application. Did everyone know how to fix it?

You probably need the latest ffdshow: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/

ffdshow is in the root directory and the ffdshow that shipped with the game originally won't run under the latest versions of Windows. One of these ffdshows (from above link) make your mpeg2's run in the game--and the other in-game animations. I run the game under Win10x64 and don't use DGVideo (any version) and with the newer ffdshow it runs wonderfully well.

Good luck!

Edit:

Thought I would add that I only use DPI scaling set to "Application" and *no other* compatibility mode. (It's not necessary for me to run it in Win98/ME Compatibility mode--runs fine in Win10x64, compat box unchecked.)

I run the game full screen--no DXWnd required--Win10x64, latest versions.

I am running an AMD RX-480 8GB card, with the latest 18.3.2 drivers. I have heard that nVidia cards have some difficulty with the game requiring DGVideo, but as I say, that has not been a problem for me over the last several years (I prefer AMD GPUs.)

Also, it is not necessary for me to set an exception for DEP, either.

Goes without saying that you want to use the GOG DVD game version which when I installed was only available through Galaxy (the manual install utilized the CD-ROM version--grossly inferior, I thought.) Maybe now both versions are the DVD version? Can't recall.

Here is my tex.ini:

Also, I use VirtualMIDIsynth for musical playback--it's great...;) Note my selection on the midi above in the tex.ini--it needs to be written just like that for the Coolsoft virtualMIDIsynth to work--unless you see a selection the game's audio/midi options for Coolsoft midi mapper--in which case you can choose that if you like. Very nice effects.
