I want to purchase a Tex Murphy game, but I can't decide which one to play. So, I've decided to ask the people that have played the games, "If you could only play one Tex Murphy game, which one would it be?". Reasons as to why are preferable, but optional.

Thank you in advance.
Under a Killing Moon
Under a Killing Moon, beyond doubt.

Although, I would seriously recommend you to buy UAKM, Pandora Directive and Overseer.

I'm late to the party, but UAKM is really where you should start. Even if you can only buy one Tex Murphy game every 6 months, don't stress it. UAKM>Pandora Directive>Overseer in that order. Play them as they were meant to be played. I'm not counting Mean Streets/Martian Memorandum because the FMV games started with UAKM if memory serves.

definitely buy them all! UAKM first for sure! my uncle worked for access software and I got to play all three before they hit the market. at the time the graphics and gameplay were revolutionary. the storyline is exellent. Brings back fond memories to pick these games up again!
Buy all, but play UAKM - one of my fondest memories from youth is playing through this game for the first time.
I would recommend starting with Mean Streets (and you get Martian Memorandum in the same package). Maybe Mean Streets has outdated graphics and it's flying sequences are somewhat annoying, but there's something addictive in that game. And besides those two start the great saga of Tex Murphy. Personally I find it odd that someone wants to start playing from part 3 instead of part 1.

Id also.second starting with Mean Streets. The story and interactivity is great and it really feels like a real world. Its still my favorite one.

I understand why people skip the first two from a gameplay point of view (1&2 are totally games and 3-5 are more like interactive movies). They are two different experiences. But all of the games reference the previous one so from a story point of view you really should start with Mean Streets.

In conclusion, unless you really hate traditional adventure games you should get mean streets. In reality the graphics from Under A Killing Moon don't look that much better than Mean Streets on modern monitors anyway.
