Hello everyone.

I have the folloving probem:yesterday i installed windows 8.1 and then fresh copy of terraria and when i click on Play button in GOG Galaxy program nothing happened. I also Verify/repair the game and still nothing.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

I had exactly the same issue. Also with Windows 10 the same hapenned. Only by running it as an administratior it worked. But I wonder why it won't work as a user?

This just worked for me:

1) Go to the Terraria system folder.
2) Look for a folder named "_redist", and open it.
3) Look for a folder named "XNA_40", and open it.
4) Run the msi file inside the folder, and follow the instructions.
5) Assuming that the installation was successful, try running Terraria again.

Reinstalled Terraria today, had this issue and your solution worked. Thanks a bunch!

I'm glad it helped. I'd actually had the game installed for ages, but never got around to playing it, so this problem came as a bit of a surprise. At least the solution seemed simple enough, now I just need to actually try playing the game. ^^'

Thanks EuroMIX, this also worked for me. Seems the GOG Galaxy doesn't install the prereq's for the game?
I'm not sure if it does this without Galaxy as I haven't tested it.

Install the game outside of the galaxy client; that's what I did and it works. Not as good as I remember but still a good game.

Hello Everybody

I bought Terraria through GOG, installed it and it does not run. :-(
I have Windows 10 installed. I have played it previously and it ran fine on Windows 7. I have tried running it in compatibility mode, have tried the fix by EuroMIX, tried running it outside of GOG, I have searched the develeopers website...

Nothing. It simply does not start.

Any further ideas? Anybody?

I don't have folder like "_redist" and "XNA_40" in terraria instalation folder. I have the same problem on win10.. when i pushing button "play" then it change color... 2sec. and it green again ane game not running. When i traying start Terraria.exe nothing happend

Common sense, is doing what everyone does when they have a seemingly unsolvable problem with a gog game:

I had the same situation as you. Thank you for taking the time to post the fix and for explicitly spelling out the full name of the support framework necessary to run this game.

Oddly enough on another system GOG Galaxy successfully installed Microsoft XNA Framework without any issue. The same for the manual installer; both approaches worked without issue.

Hi, I downloaded Terraria and it wont run on windows 10 and I don't have Redist folder and I have Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 and the game wont run. Plz Helpp
