Worked like a charm! Thanks!
After 1.4 update cannot create a world (image). Begins to load (percentage), then text disappear... infinite music and logo/bg animation without any progression.

EuroMIX: This just worked for me:

1) Go to the Terraria system folder.
2) Look for a folder named "_redist", and open it.
3) Look for a folder named "XNA_40", and open it.
4) Run the msi file inside the folder, and follow the instructions.
5) Assuming that the installation was successful, try running Terraria again.
It says that the folder is empty.

You need to install xna framework and net framework both from microsofts page. if you already have the xna framework insider the folder and it doesnt work deinstall it by opening it and click deinstall. and then reinstall it from the microsoft page into the terraria folder. if xna framework doesnt open you need to download net framework first. after that is done open steam again and veify datas again just to be safe. and it should work now. my cousing had the same issue and it was annoying as hell. hope you enjoy the game

I have a similar problem - cannot start the game from within the GOG Galaxy page (PLAY button greyed out). However, I installed a desktop shortcut and it starts that way.

I don't actually see the msi file inside the XNA_40 file. The "XNA_40" file is completely empty, please help!
