It's not fun. It's not challenging. It's just annoying for no reason. This crap is about to eat my jungle and allready had taken one of my (two) small deserts.

The only way to stop it is to spend a lot of time digging tunnels and hellevators, better before killing the WoF (which I didn't, so now maybe it's too late to save my world)

IMO it's a very bad design choice. I love challenge and hard games, trust me on that, but this is hard and annoying for all the wrong reasons.

While it's annoying as hell it's not a gamebreaker. You can use Clentaminator to restore/destroy biomes. It's not cheap however.

I haven't got the steampunker yet. So you're saying that I have to see my world turn into the matrix's "real world" until I'l get the Clentaminator and reverse it ? Man, worst gameplay design choice ever.

Oh, I overlooked this detail. Sorry. :P You could use Purification Powder in that case. But digging seems to be the most effective way to contain spread. Just remember to dig tunnels and shafts at least 3 blocks wide, and watch out for vines - they too can spread crimson/corruption and hallow.

I've dug an hellevator to isolate the corruption and hadn't noticed that I missed few blocks on the "clean" side... Too late...

I think I'll just wait to get the Clentaminator.
Yeah having munti world is the best bet, let one go to harvest stuff and have a PRE-hardmode world for building your AMAZING base into.
Also Patch 1.3 is on the way with some cool stuff hope it happens soon.
LAZERMACHINEGUN go....

Meh, I'm not much of an architect, I love decorating but I not gonna build some crazy castle fortress space ship style things.

I love challenge, but the corruption thing just feels like tha game is a fucking immature troll. I'm still waiting for the moon to do a trollface and ask me if I mad (bro).
Color me stupid, but isn't it possible to eradicate 90% of the Corruption right before you go up against the Wall of Flesh? I read in a forum somewhere that this worked as a strategy to cut down on how much you're up against. Granted, this probably takes a while and probably isn't cheap, but if you have say 3 patches of Corruption, cleansing two of them before Hard Mode would make things a little easier, wouldn't it?

You still get a massive amount of Corruption/Crimson when killing the Wall, depending on your world it may even be more than you started with.

Man, I'd be so lost without you. :P
The only area you care at all about is the underground jungle, though. Slice it into chunks with 5 wide gaps lined with hay or wood before you hardmode just in case, and kill WoF on the dungeon side of the world.

I saved all the crates until hardmode, then opened them for enough ore and bars so I didn't need any ore to spawn in the world. So far I haven't broken any altars, and corruption is contained just fine. Turns out I wasted a lot of time digging shafts to save terrain I haven't bothered with since.

BTW, yes, you can clear out corruption before hardmode, presumably to zero, though I left it at 1% so I could spawn for chunks. I think next time, I'll leave more, but structured better for collection of cursed flames.

I've played and beaten Terraria in over ten different created worlds, both on console and PC.
Never once even gave the corruption a glance..
It seriously never bothered me. If i ever need something that i don't have in my main world i just make another world and try to find it there.

Even then, i never had the corruption swallow any of my biomes completely, not even close.

So yea, i never really saw the point in corruption spreading, it never phased me either way, but i thought i was cool.

That and every altar you smash to spawn the new hardmode ores plants a random patch of corruption or crimson into your world.

Clearing corruption to 0 doesn't affect anything, once the wall of flesh is killed the game spawns a line of hardmode corruption and a line of hallow in a V pattern from where the wall was slain. This is the form of corruption that spreads like crazy.
